The "8:30 TO SILVERTON" is the third program of The Incredible Journey series. Five years in the making, this beautiful presentation covers the journey from Durango to Silverton of engine number 482, through summer and fall. You will also see the railroad's other engines - 473, 476, 478, 480, and 481 - as they work the Silverton line as double-headers, freight trains, work trains and a photographers special excursion. In the high country, the green of summer changes to the yellow, orange and red of fall. The San Juan Mountains come alive with color as the scene is set for an incredible railroad adventure.

  • I grew up in the 1950-1970 riding the Durango/Silverton steam engine trips! I remember Ah! Wilderness, the ranch/tourist nest right before Silverton. All destroyed in the floods years ago. Happy to see the trains running again.
