Toyota Crown Limited Review - The Crown Jewel of the Hybrid Market?

Published 2024-02-23
You've heard of the Toyota Prius, but now we have the Crown. A hybrid sedan that takes the formula and blueprint of Toyota's iconic hybrid vehicle, and goes upmarket with a Lexus like design and refibment. While manufacturers continue to focus primarily on EVs, Toyota is showing it's dedication and commitment to hybrid and plug in hybrid technology. In this video we'll take an in-depth look at the all new Toyota Crown and see if it's the best fuel efficient car you can buy today.

Huge thank you to AutoFair Toyota in Tewksbury, MA for providing this Toyota Crown for this review.

I just purchased a Crown and have fallen in love with it. Toyota is aggressive on the discounts right now to get the Crown out on the road and be known/seen. It makes a heck of an appearance and so many people have asked me what kind of car it is. I am getting 48mpg in the city in Ohio during Winter! The power off the line will put you back in your seats and the AWD system performed amazing in 7 inches of snow. I could not get it to lose traction!! I love the technology in this and the driving experience is premium like a Lexus. The ECVT is very smooth and lacks the jerking and slipping I felt with other manufacturers CVTs. I love the ride height and my Dad who has trouble getting into/out of sedans does so with a breeze. I just filled it up after a month and a half of driving and I show a range of over 630 miles on a 14 gallon tank of gas. Anyone looking for the handling of a sedan, with the height of a crossover and amazing fuel economy should look no further than a Crown. Great job Toyota and I hope to see this car do well!!

Thanks for a comprehensive and informative review. This is the most unbiased review I've seen on the new Toyota Crown. Just bought the XLE trim and just like the other commenter I have fallen in love with this car because of everything you touched on your review. As a Crown owner, I can say you are spot on and get the segment that Toyota is trying to capture. I've seen way too many reviews get in the "why did Toyota even make this car" band wagon and didn't offer too much value. I like SUV and EVs but this one attracted me for all the right reasons. Keep up the good work!

The closest thing to this is the Accord Hybrid. I love this car. If you spend 45K on a Crown in comparison with a 52K electric car you can put that 7,000 your savings into a fund for gas. even at 5 dollars, you are getting 57,400 miles because of what you saved from not getting electric- and no worries for the road trips.

I like the look of the car. I’ve seen it with the macadamia interior which I really liked but have seen the insignia will not off this option. That’s too bad. I love the concept of hybrid and am definitely not interested in EV. You did an excellent job reviewing this car and appreciate your detailed explanation.

Thank you…Very informative review. Too bad this isn’t a sportback like the Audi A5. Not everyone wants a crossover/suv…..I would have considered this if it was…

Yes, but the "Crown" has to be the badge on the front, in the headrest and steering wheel. Why wasn't that an option?
  • 28:55 The reason why the Crown is ñot salling is because you CAN'T GET THE DAMN CAR,ALSO THERE NOT ANY COLORS BUT BLACK & WHITE.WHAT HAPPEN TO THE DUAL COLORS? RED/BLACK OR THE BROWN/ BLACK,which is the color I want. The Crown just not in the show rooms😢

2024 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Limited blows the crown out of the water - not even close.
