There‘s literally no reason why there should be any gangs in hawaii.
  • @7mistahj
crazy how dumb the gang culture looks from the outside
  • @allikohcysp
As a Samoan that grew up in a lot of this I can relate and understand why kids get into this kind of gang culture. It’s complex and there are many factors to why this happens. The mixture of growing up around differing cultures, struggling to assimilate, loss of identity, older generations out of touch with progressiveness/ the advancements of society/ their children, neglect, toxic masculinity etc. the list goes on.

This literally has the same energy as every kickback i went to in highschool ever. The dudes that think they’re hard because its “cool” lmfaooo
  • @jqking1022
Can’t even lie this seems like the most forced gang situation I have seen, these kids don’t even need to do all of this. Hope they turn it around
  • Very sad to see this ..As a islander it hurts to see our brothers and sisters trying to be someone who they are not .. Remember your roots. Remember your ancestors, remember your identity 🙏🙏🙏

„It’s the hood, people struggling here“ - pans to beautiful houses with kids playing in the yard, everything clean and cozy.

As someone who grew up in Memphis and lived in Hawaii this is cringy. Every time I see them trying to talk and behave like black folks i get embarrassed for them.

As a Polynesian man that’s traveled to Chicago, DC, Baltimore, Thailand and many other places including all around hawaii and lived in Hawaii for 3 years. Hawaii isn’t riddled with gangs it’s just people bored In a place where the cost of living is quite high. I know the people of Hawaii are actually very kind people, you can see in the video that they are very nice. I don’t know why they are trying to make it seem like it’s terrible on Oahu. And all of this is evident when you see truly gang areas like DC and Baltimore. It’s not a flex coming from rough areas

Glad to see Independent Journalism actually cover real problems. Another good one
  • @Nestle245
Where are the og's? They all look under 18 it's like they're literally imitating word for word what they see on TV.
  • @melmjetset1876
I lived 1 street away from KPT and dated the most kindest and loving person from Kam 4. Gangs are around and that makes me sad but I never felt endangered and no one ever messed with me. Both KPT & Kam 4 always showed me luv. I hope no one else gets hurt
  • @Ffollies
I'm a local on Oahu and never been really worried about gangs, even when gang activity was much higher in the 80s and 90s when I was growing up. Never been as bad as mainland cities and today you hardly hear about gang violence. Yeah, I know it exists but it's rare. I'm more worried about the homeless that infest our streets than any gangs.
  • @justokinko8509
THEY DOING NY DANCES, WIT TEXAS HAIRCUTS AND CALI ACCENTS🤣🤣🤣WTF IS GOING ON!!!
  • @gLoBuLaRzArTs
Some SOLID reporting Brando. You gather the facts at street level and raise awareness is a win for everyone. Thanks/Mahalo
  • @hyperpirate357
Thank you for making this video, I'm an aspiring teacher in the islands and my mentor wanted me to do research to learn more about the local communities as well as the Kam Iv gangs. Like the guys said, there isn't a lot you can easily find online and your video has been the best insight I've had into the local communities. Thank you for doing this, this will be a big help in helping me figure out what I can do to help this community
  • @GraniteLife
Big respect to you for calling them out for trying to outdo O block, not what this shit is about. More violence pushes your chances down further.
  • @ulthunter4611
born raised and part hawaiian and growing up in hawaii people only see the good parts but they also forget that struggle is everywhere ive been a long time subscriber and thank you brandon for covering something that most people dont see about hawaii much love
  • @sammyzhang2472
Having positive outlets makes such a big difference. Can you imagine how much a community can change by simply up keeping a rec center or basketball court
