Trump, if elected, will help driving that wedge between the US and the EU.

China has the same problems with EU as US and can’t afford either to get worse

China doesn't like unipolar hegemony because it wants it, it needs it , my precious!

Short sighted comments, they see politics in everything having themselves failed in everything.

Yes the only way there will be a wedge is if Putin's "Trump card" gets in

Driving a wedge between EU and US? I thought the Americans are the master. If any, the Chinese must be learning from the Americans.

I guess the most worrying countries about Xi’s trip abroad this time are US and UK.
  • It is in the favour of XI politically to interrupt any interaction between two of the largest trading blocks in the world because China sees an advantage in increasing trade with Europe which has so far resisted giving unfettered trade access to a country they see as breaking human rights legislation daily.

Who in the first place tries to drive a wedge between friendly nations. President Xi simply tries to undo the wedge and to foster better relationships.

Given how easily pudin was able to peal UK out of EU its unsurpfising others are being encouraged to chance their hand.

Currently China is well-advanced with its Belt, and Road initiative, there is a plan to dredge a canal to the Mediterranean by-passing Suez, they are reversing desert growth, they will have access to all the markets they require, the 'wedge' is self-propelling by the western refusal of a multipolar world.
