OMG HEY, I am so excited to release Dolores’s villain song (in the style of Encanto) you have no idea. SO for those of you that have followed the series for a while I generally reimagine pre-existing songs and this is the first time I have written an original song for the series (obvs still inspired by the style of Encanto and taking inspo from Dolores’s bit in WDTAB) and my god am I so excited it's finally out. I really hope you enjoy it and can see all the love and effort myself and Tony put into the song and the time and effort Shrubbug put into the animatic! Thanks for watching and I'll see ya next week for another villain xx

As always, Dolores's Villain story for context! (Inspired by the Mat Pat film theory)

STORY

Dolores hates her powers, she always has, but would never dare to complain or moan about the ‘Miracle’ they were given. Imagine, being able to hear everything anyone is saying 24/7 from the age of 5. Maybe if she’d learnt to block people out or had someone to guide her she could’ve managed her powers better but her family barely understand how they have powers to begin with, let alone how to control them. And so little Dolores put up with it, keeping secrets, ignoring the gossip she heard about herself, ignoring Bruno's whispers and the cracks forming in the house.

That was until she overheard a conversation and learned that the magic would fail. Though I'm not referencing the conversation you think I am, no, Dolores has known the magic would fail for a long time. She heard it when Bruno first shared his vision all those years ago. From that moment forward Dolores saw a chance at freedom and set in motion a plan to ensure Bruno's vision came true and the magic died. Finally a chance at peace.

So she bides her time, waiting for the perfect moment to pounce, all the while ignoring Bruno hidden inside the house. That moment came when Mirabel mentioned people were worried about the magic and Dolores made her first move, revealing that Luisa was weakening. From there she began sowing seeds of doubt and bitterness throughout the family. Moving next to Isabela, mentioning that Mariano wanted 5 kids, causing her to doubt her course of action in marrying him to further shake her and the family. Finally her biggest move yet, revealing the vision to everyone at dinner. Surely this would bring the magic down. Watching the chaos ensue as Mirabel ran around trying and failing miserably to fix everything. And, at long last, she got what she wanted. The house collapsed, the candle was out, the magic was finally gone and she had a moment of silence..

For the first time since she was 5 years old Dolores was excited for her future. She could finally hear herself again. Until Mirabel placed the handle on the door and her powers came flooding back. No, no, no! She’d done everything right, finally everything was as it always should’ve been. She wouldn’t go back, couldn't go back. And in her agony a new power emerged...

Seeing each girl get their own villain song...all we need now is Luisa and we've collected all Encanto Infinity Stones- I mean songs
  • @Demi_Sukimata
Mirabel is literally the only one who didn’t panic during Dolores’ outrage… and tried to PEACEFULLY confront her. Dolores didn’t attack her, she was temporarily brought to ease… Mirabel probably could’ve calmed her down if she hadn’t been interrupted.

I love how dolores's villain song is just "yall shut up" cuz honestly... mood
  • @warawasaoho1043
Isabella used her thorns and vines to trap Delores in this song like she did with the others in her song. I also like the reference to mirabel in all the encanto songs. Whenever anyone else is panicking, she is the one to try and attempt to calm them down. Yet in her villain song, nobody tries to stop her or support her like she does with everyone else.
  • Okay but like how is Dolores not insane in the movie? She can hear the entire village from anywhere and that much noise 24/7 whether its animals, talking, or anything really would drive anyone insane.
  • Fun fact: The name "Dolores" literally translates to "sorrows" or "pain" in Spanish. Also, the entire town likely knows about her "gift", so having them set off fireworks and clapping loudly is insult to injury.

After some rewatches, i've realized that the reason that Dolores got emotional at 2:02 after seeing Mirabel is because, she KNOWS Bruno's vision about the miracle, she knows that Mirabel, her dear little cousin, (who's the only one shown to care for Dolores' pain) is the key that'll either make her dreams true or torn them to pieces
  • I like the little detail that Camilo was also as devastated as Dolores when the magic returned, meaning his imposter syndrome probably still hasn't fully gone away
  • As someone who suffers from panic and overstimulation I'm happy I can hear a song about all of this and relate to it
  • @jaohonaxa
Poor Dolores. I love how Mirabel (obviously) is the only one who actually tries to reach out to her with understanding.
  • 2:25 as happened in Isabella's villain song, Mirabel tries to make Dolores see that she is not like that, sad that in Mirabel's villain song no one approaches her to try to stop her and help her
  • @superphantom100
Let’s think about the moment she opened her door. It was probably the first dramatic door ceremony imagine as a 5 year old you go from hearing light murmurs in the crowd around you and the next thing you know those murmurs sound like screams. The minute she opened her door she probably covered her ears and started to cry. She was the only person not happy when everyone’s power where restored. Her gift is a curse I bet she wishes she got what Maribel got.

In the movie, Dolores was talking about how she could hear Luisa's eye twitch all night. Assuming she was in her bedroom, also trying to sleep, it would mean she doesn't have soundproof walls. I think her gift should have provided that when giving her a room.
  • i love how they'res a subtle hint to Mirabels villain song in Mirabels villain song she calls Dolores out "to scared to even make a sound" and here, in Dolores villain song ,she is literally saying "I Cant make a sound" neat world-building in the Lydiaverse
  • 2:16 I love how she looks so calm until the kids start talking. She’s going so insane that she will get ticked off by the smallest noise. She’s so ranged that she won’t even let kids speak.
  • @Asodel
DOLORES WITH HER HAIR DOWN IS SO PRETTY-
  • @hzbin.
i love how Dolores didn't let Mirabel stop her, either- like girlie threw LUISA into a wall, she's unstoppable now.😭
  • @EnbyInTheRain
Ngl I love the idea that Dolores, in her desperation for quiet, learns to mute the voices of others. It seems simple but I just adore it.
