The like button, hanging around when joe is trying to climb up.. poor joe. 20:46
-
You're a special kind of evil when you bury someone alive for no reason, especially when that someone tried to help you.
-
I think we all can agree that once we found this guy we couldnāt stop binging all of his videos
-
Whenever I hear a survivorās story and they talk about their guilt, I just want to hug them and tell them that whoever they lost was cheering them on from wherever we go. Like if I died in a disaster and some afterlife exists that I can view from, Iād be cheering like a maniac when my girlfriend reached land all on her own ā¤

Tammy had such a bad head injury that she forgot how to read!!...Yet, she was able to navigate a broken boat, that she half cobbled back together, across the ocean to find a current that you cannot see and locate Hawaii? Wow she is amazing. And my condolences to the loss of her fiance. I lost mine last year. Awful awful in heartbreaking.
-
imagine being so bad at killing someone, that the person you tried to kill, rises up from the grave zombie style and plays minecraft hardcore irl for 71 days in the desert
-
1st story, after the head injury she couldn't read for 6 years. Yet, she navigated her way to shore. That is super human stuff. So glad she survived and so sad that her husband didn't. RIP.

I've read Joe's book and I've seen touching the void both are fantastic. I feel bad for Simon though, Joe on one hand almost died and went through this tremendously terrible ordeal and he is rightly considered a survivor. Simon, on the other hand, had attempted what was essentially one of the most challenging, daring and brave mountain climbing rescues ever recorded but because he was forced to cut the rope it's considered controversial. The worst part about it is the fact that if he didn't cut the rope they likely would have both died and there wouldn't have been a story at all. I could understand why simon has some resentment towards Joe for writing the book and towards the community even if Joe would never blamed him for the choice he made. They're still plenty of people in the community and outside of the community that look on that choice and just don't fully understand the gravity of it. And so now he's forever known as the guy who cut the rope rather than a man who attempted an unheard of lone rescue of his friend from what was almost certain death at 20,000 feet. The trauma and guilt that he went through is every bit as brutal as the trauma that Joe had to endure and yet he's been stigmatized unfairly. As far as I am concerned, Simon succeeded in saving Joe and his actions should be seen as such.
-
I don't see how Joe and Simon's friendship could survive the very bizarre and very complex situation they weathered. It's no surprise they've drifted apart, but still consider each other friends. I certainly wish them both well.
-
It's so good to hear stories about people surviving and not dying for a change.
-
The second story is such an Australian thing it's not funny like " I was just helping a few mates out ya know, and the next thing I know a fuggen dingo is diggin me out the fuggen desert"
-
Simon is a hero, good to see that Joe is grateful. He did everything right, such a great friend
-
In hindsight, the right decision for Joe and Simon may have ultimately been what saved them both. If Simon hadn't survived, he wouldn't have been there when Joe emerged. If they both fell, tethered, then the void could have swallowed them both very easily. It almost seems like someone was looking out for them
-
Worst fear: waking up in the middle of the ocean š¬
-
I bet that dingo walked away with one hell of a story though Edit: 2k likes? Wow, I'd like to thank my own hatred of capitalism for this award, thanks me
-
Joe and Simon was such a emotional story, I couldnāt imagine what Joe felt descending the rope, the strong survive I guess. The desperation Simon had trying to save his friend for hours in the storm slowly getting pulled down hill is something else too, before seeing him crawl back into camp he probably was reliving their final moments over and over in his head, Iām glad they both understood the situation.
-
Richard gave Tammy a chance. His kindness in the moment to let her go rest gave her a chance of surviving, otherwise both would be swept away by the rougher wave May he Rest In Peace
-
9:11 I know this isnāt a laughing matter, but imagine the surprise/panic that dog experienced when he thought Ricky was dead and all of a sudden screamed. Lol
-
I watched "Touching the Void" in high school. The guy didn't just shatter his leg... When he fell, he landed right on his feet. His tibia and fibula got shoved up into his thigh. Can you even imagine?!?!?

I love how this channel provides us with equally balanced amounts of hope and despair.
