  • Bmo owes her the money back. Disgusting that she had to get the tv involved to get them to do the right thing. What a crappy bank😡

BMO really sucks. How can they deny her claim?

wow, crazy.. I am always leery when using my credit card when travelling..
  • @cdbuiles
when in South America use cash if not dealing with large businesses or hotels or airports. Local shops, taxis, touristic areas are prime for scamming like this one
  • Why is it that BMO always denies reimbursement until a third party gets involved? I think their customer service needs to be considered before anyone decides to open accounts with this bank.
  • Pretty lame on the bank's part that a national news agency has to get involved to get the client's money back. Two scammers in this story.
  • @jkapageridis
Not sure why BMO had initially denied her claim since she clearly didn't authorize the [fraudulent] charge.

Using Uber eliminates this concern. I visited Chile, Peru, Argentina in 2022 and had no issues getting caught in any scams.

These banks don't care unless you go public and make yourself look gullible
  • @bellamonique
Traveling to South America or an unfamiliar country is better to use cash. I hate surprises

I'll never get scammed because my credit card is in the wifes purse! lol
  • @Ont785
This isn’t that complicated. You pay by cash, or you don’t take the taxi. World travelers, without any world experience…
  • @Ynalaw
    Her husband must be furious.
  • @sumo36
BMO should have handled the dispute better. The traveler had a receipt.
