Actually dataminers have found that different weapons have different multipliers for Alatreon elemental dps check, with slower weapons having higher multipliers. So no, you're not screwed if you main a slow-hitting weapon.

In Gen 3 & 4 Alatreon has 2 modes; one where he uses Fire & Dragon, and one where he uses Ice & Thunder. Fire/Dragon mode is weakest to Ice, Ice/Thunder is weakest to Dragon.
