Shelter pittie was so pregnant, her belly looked like a dozen eggs ❤️

Mama Stormi’s rescuer Lisa and her foster mom Karla rushed to the shelter to save her life before the 3pm deadline — and got her out with just 47 minutes to spare.

We talked to them about how they knew when Mama Stormi was about to give birth and the amazing family who ended up adopting her.

If I work in a high kill shelter, I would cry every single day. I wouldn't last a week.

This made me cry. I just can't believe that perfect pregnant dogs get put down. At least Stormi and her pups made it through.

"You ok mama?" *instant tail wags* aww 🥰

It's amazing how dogs immediately become Super Mom's and then go back to being regular dogs after puppies are adopted.
  • I adopted a dog years ago on her scheduled euthanasia day. I immediately took her to the vet BECAUSE she looked to be too skinny (she was a Golden retriever) and the vet said she was ok. My vet didn't even know she was pregnant. Five days after i adopted her, she gave birth to seven puppies!!!!🥰 What a surprise for us all. My $45.00 adoption fee was for eight dogs! It was a joy to watch them grow up until their new homes. I made sure they were housebroken beforehand, BECAUSE i would always take them outside with their momma. I put all seven puppies in a laundry basket and carried them outside and gave my Australian shepherd/Chow mix command to watch the puppies. It worked out great. Of course I was outside with them too to make sure the puppies didn't wander to the road.

I love that Mama got adopted first. It’s almost always ‘and mom is still waiting for her forever home’.

“You made eight! I thought we agreed on 4?”….. I was dying laughing 🤣….

You guys saved 9! LIVES! What's even better is that stormi got adopted FIRST!
  • I once rescued an Old Boston Bulldogge on a Sunday who was scheduled to be euthanized on the next day. Thankfully the city dogcatcher came in on a Sunday and opened the doors to let me adopt him for $5. I had him over 10 years and he was a great dog.

Humans have such a long way to go in respecting animals as sentient beings and treating them with dignity and respect: thank you for saving her and the puppies.

This is the best Dodo's story. Something about pregnancy transcends species. We all know what it means.

Got my pitbull 24 hrs before her deletion. We drove 6 hrs to get her. She saved my life when I was brutally attacked by a German shepherd. My sweet girl is amazing and she loves everyone. Especially kids. She is very protective of my granddaughter and nieces. They are always the first to be deleted. Glad this girl is doing great. ❤

I was crying when i saw mama Stormi walking out the gate with her new family.:eyes-purple-crying: Thank you all for your love and hard work to save these beautiful animals. :face-red-heart-shape: Blessings 🙏🙏

🙏Thank you.🙏 All the local shelters around here are no kill, thank goodness. And for anyone who may be considering adopting a pittie breed, my Molly, an AmStaff, who I adopted last September, is the most loving, cuddly dog I've ever known. She was obviously overbred, found as a stray in February, not yet 2. So many are in need. Please consider saving the life of a shelter dog of any breed. You'll be rewarded with loads of love every day.
  • Watching Mama Stormi being put in the van to her forever home made me cry. What a beautiful story! I am so glad that she was saved from the kill shelter side note: I hate that kill shelters even exist. Truly heart breaking

The world needs more people like Carla. It can’t be easy, getting attached to these dogs, then having to say goodbye. She even has a puppy house with a yard. What a boss.

In Dec on 2022 I rescued a Lab mix who was one week from delivering her litter two days before she was due to euthanized. We not only found homes for all eight puppies but an amazing family for her, living in the country in Weed, CA where she is unbelievably happy. I still keep in touch with most of the (then) puppies families. It was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
