LETRA
Look through the people, and on through the mist
to the hill of the headless cross
Where all witches meet, on a night such as this
and the power of darkness is host
They come face to face, eye to eye, soul to soul
with and Angel that fell from the sky
Borne on the air, the screams and the wails
of the masses appointed to die

Listen for the feet as they pound the land to a tune of thunder
Watch as the legions ride again to a fate of death or torture
At the Headless Cross, at the Headless Cross

From the first evil night, when a black flash of light
cut the crucifix half to the ground
There's been no escape from the power of Satan
on a nation so brave and so proud

Listen for the feet as they pound the land to a tune of thunder
Watch as the legions ride again to a fate of death or torture
At the Headless Cross, at the Headless Cross

How do you feel, when the locks refuse the key
and the master is calling your name
Does the luck of the charm, really keep you from harm?
does the talisman protect you from pain?

Listen for the feet as they pound the land to a tune of thunder
Watch as the legions ride again to a fate of death or torture
At the Headless Cross, at the Headless Cross

From the first evil night, when a black flash of light
cut the crucifix half to the ground
There's no escaping the power of Satan
on a nation so brave and so proud

Listen for the feet as they pound the land to a tune of thunder
Watch as the legions ride again to a fate of death or torture, oh no, oh
At the Headless Cross, at the Headless Cross
At the Headless Cross, oh, at the Headless Cross
Where will you run to?
At the Headless Cross
Look, to the Headless Cross

This song is so underrated. Headless Cross is an album that needs more love in general.

Cozy Powell on the drums and Tony Martin on vocals. 👍
  • You know something? It is possible to like Black Sabbath álbuns with Ozzy, Dio, Gillan, Hughes and Martin. Don't tell anybody, it's our secret!

In the future, year 2024, Tony Martin finally is recognised.
  • The BEST Sabbath singer... With all due respect to Ozzy, Ronnie and the guys from DP... And one of the greatest singers EVER! I had the privilege of seeing him live in 2007, he simply blew my mind. Long live Tony Martin
  • This is one of my favorite Black Sabbath songs, and the album, my favorite one. I love each of the Sabbath's albums.

Headless Cross= pure magic. Tony Martin's era of Black Sabbath is very underrated and this album is one of the best albums ever made. The song is amazing it has so much atmosphere in it. I really love Sabbath, Coven, Cloven Hoof carried it on for awhile. A lot of bands disappear after a smash. Go back in time to 1969 and 1970 Sabbath released two worldwide huge ones BLACK SABBATH and PARANOID and they are landmarks, masterworks, brilliant. I think this era carried on great from that era and also the wonderful era of Dio. I will never get over the loss of RJD. It broke my heart and still does. He is one of the best and you can hear the influence he had on the band with Tony Martin's vocals which carry that era on a bit. One thing, though, Tony couldn't or didn't reach for and hit the high screams in the studio version. That's really a shame, but he does sing the lower range and middle range brilliantly.

Tony Martin, my favorite Sabbath head, you deserve so much more man. I will cheer for the day when your albums get remastered for all to consume

Love the albums with Tony! The Headless Cross, Tyr and also Cross Purposes are magnificent! Best voice beneath Ronnie!

For those of you complaining about pre-recorded vocals, that part has a harmony, and it wouldn't sound right sung by just one voice. And AFAIK a single man cannot sing 2 melodies at the same time.
  • Had they called the band who made this album "Headless cross" instead of Black Sabbath, everybody would be regarding this as one of the top 10 heavy metal of all time, but the brand name association spoiled it, this is lesson why rebranding is important sometimes.
