  • window details are definitely important. and also rain screens and air gaps. but what Matt forgot to mention is the Massive overhangs. they look like they're extending 6 to 8 feet off of the building. that's going to do the bulk of your rain-proofing and keep the building dry. With overhangs that are that massive you could honestly do a horrible job on the waterproofing details and still not get any call backs. large overhangs on buildings are very under rated

Probably the best Ryan's youtube.com/post/UgkxGZedDTcDfgD7fG_uU4esfx_EgxzlY… Plans on building a shed is hardly ever found. And Ryan takes the mystery out of different types of foundation options, etc. He even shows how to build a shed with different designs. Very comprehensive, covering different roofing materials, siding, etc.
  • Matt, I've got an idea for a few vids you may want to do. You do vids on new tools and techniques, how about a few vids on tools and techniques that have withstood the test of time? Or how tools have evolved over time, like levels, from ancient water levels to modern laser levels.

Wasn't mentioned in the video. Was their horizontal blocking on the inside of the framing to nail off the vertical siding every 24 inches?
  • @tektondiy
LOVE the charred siding on this project! And of course the project is using zip sheathing.
  • Awesome video. thanks for liking the product and what we do in collaboration with Kebony NA
  • spider webs and dust might show - but you could use a blow torch to "clean" it up. ??

Can you do an overview of a fire resistant home? From foundation, to deck, to wall, to roof. It would be really interesting.
  • Would be great to get permission from the architectural teams to share the drawing details to accompany these conversations.
  • @sshuggi
Had this on sort of in the background and thought you had Woody Harrelson on when Brian started talking.
  • I don't "buy" most of these "new" building products; however, this is a WINNER
  • @aldoogie824
Love that Kebony system. Probably relieves some pressure when wood swells a bit with temperature, allowing some moving without putting added stress to the members/material in the wall assembly, I like it. Would be great to know what kind of router bit would work with that product.
  • @GloryGuide777
Very nice! What is he using behind the vertical siding to create the gap and to screw the fasteners into?
  • @josephhuether1184
I didn’t see the earlier videos on this project but could someone explain to me: A) Why did they do one system on the main house and another on the exercise pod? Was it just an experiment to see how well / easily the Kebony Click-in System would work? B) On the main house…what were the stainless steel screws fastening into? Did the Bensonwood panels already have horizontal blocking built into them behind the Zip sheathing shown in this video? Normally you wouldn’t fasten vertical siding only to sheathing.
  • @nriqueog
I wonder if it would be lower cost if a composite decking material was used in place of that wood? And if the grad system would work with it? That Shishugibon finish is amazing!
  • @dwdrummer
Huber really needs to make an integrated Rainscreen/WRB product
