What do you do when things go wrong in the process of your new build home? What happens when pieces other than what you finalized through the design center start making their way into your home? Unfortunately these errors happen, I've been dealing with a few of them myself! Here's how we've found to handle these situations as they come up; if you're in the new construction process or are looking to start soon, I hope this helps!

Every builder is different so be sure to check with them if you have any questions about the process for your specific home.

Congrats on the new home. Thx for the tips to keep a record of everything. I have not caught any errors yet. So far pleased with my builder because they go over everything verbally, in writing, and then a third tie before we sign. But I am still watching…
  • Thank you so much Nicole, great information, and since I’m just starting in the process, very timely for me.

Thank you for all these tips! I hope they correct your cabinets in a timely manner.
  • Thanks for your valuable insights. Flying to Sarasota for design appointment next week. No permits yet lodged with Venice city website. Will do additional searching using your techniques.
  • Nicole, progress report: none! Toll Bros rep said in December on signing that they would break ground in May. Not! Rep phoned me once May 26 to say permit application would go in first week of June, then left message saying it wasn't done. Venice, Florida. They don't return calls or reply to emails!
  • Hi Nicole , love your videos ! Hey quick question , how do you find your house public records ? I want to check they are using the correct sheathing material ( we are so much earlier in the process) and builder is not responding :-s , so want to check whta is actually submitted to city for permits :) . Many thanks

How much did you spend overall in change requests?
