coyote in new York long island

This coyote is in the east end of long island at one of the spots that i hunt he has been their for about 4 too 5 yrs from what i hear their are 3 now.most of us out here beleive they where introduced to study if they can help with thinning the heard because of the tree huggers not alowing people to bow hunt them.they are probable sterile so as they can not form a pack that would cause havoc this way they can only eat the deer.

Where on the east end is this? I've heard that there have been sightings the past few years... In Nassau as well

Coyotes have populated almost every area in the united states, Long Island being one of the last. The Bronx has had them for decades. Even sightings in NYC! From what I have read, there have been sightings on Long Island for a decade or more and there are multiple breeding groups spread across Nassau and Suffolk. They are reclusive and rarely seen. The number of humans bitten by coyotes are extremely rare almost always by coyotes being fed by humans. From studies I have been able find, total U.S. deaths from coyote attacks in all recorded years is well less than 1/2 of deaths caused by domestic dogs in a single year. 2019 had 59 fatalities caused by domestic dogs - 33 caused by Pit bulls. Statistics being what they are, it is fair to say there are a lot of more issues to worry about than coyotes. Deer population being what it is, an apex predator can also help balance the growing rodent populations - rats, rabbits, squirrels, Woodchuck (I am assuming the would be on the menu) etc. that have been thriving in our green spaces. So hey, tree huggers or not... the suburban mind is so sterile i know people who are upset we haven't killed all the bees and spiders yet).. coyotes beware! Humans are dangerous!

I love wild life but when you come in my yard my property its on.I have a Shnazier mini and a Catahoula dog 100lbs. He will give his life for his little buddy.Long story short a coyote enter my yard and my dog tore it up.
