Coast makes some very good headlamps for the money. The only issue I have with them is they don't have a button lockout on them. So if the control gets bumped and turned on, it will be on and draining the battery. It happened to me a few times and put me in a bad situation once. After that, I upgraded to the Nitecore NU33. But the thing with it is, like you said, you have to go through so many button pushes to get to where you want the light to be. But the button lockout feature overcomes the cons of the numerous button pushes. Another thing people don't realize is the throw of the light. Yeh it may be 1000 lumens, but how far does it realy push that light out?
