Penix having 4 season ending injuries in college was enough to not draft him in the 1st rd. The Cousins/ Penix situation going to cost GM the job.

🤔🧐🤨...Not a Falcons fan, but i like the pick of Penix Jr at #8. Cousins is getting paid enough 💰💰💰 to put 'his feelings in his pocket' and perform on the field. Cousins just needs to do his job to keep Penix on the sideline to learn and grow for the future. If Cousins does what he normally does which is be good in the regular season and be at home with Dak Prescott before the NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME, the Falcons won't have another top 10 pick to get a qb for at least the next 3-4 years 🤷🏾‍♂️. Dallas has done it with Trey Lance...Pittsburgh just did it with Justin Fields...💩Jacksonville even did it Mac Jones😂😂
  • Hey Cam, I have a question for you that nobody talks about. I believe you were the first #1 pick to enter the NFL under the new rookie pay scale. As such, your first contract wasn't even comparable to say Matthew Stafford's. That new rule came when there was a fierce CBA negotiation, and every player that got a vote on it was already in the NFL, and thus they didn't really care. I always thought that was a nasty trick by the owners. I was wondering if you had any thoughts about the rookie pay scale?
  • If Atlanta knew for a fact that they could get him at 8 like it was absolutely nothing to take him they would not have gotten Kirk. Let’s be real Kirk isn’t the future but they didn’t want to chance not having a legitimate QB either . We act like Atlanta had top tier qbs forever. Perfect play for their future. All the other stuff will take care of itself in the next draft.
  • This was a good segment. No lies detected fr. Cousins is is the “ninja whisperer” but the young bull Mike Penix’s road to the NFL was a slow trajectory. Bro gon lace them cleats up and put it all out there on the field. Imma bears fan and think that Penix is a dawg fr… and the bears drafted a talented QB1… 🤷🏾‍♂️

Cam Newton makes some awesome points! That business about it being a distraction is real. You don't want the clubhouse divided as to who we want at QB. If you have two QBs, you have none. And Cam speaks from experience - he's not just some media member speculating. He knows what goes on inside a clubhouse. The pick of Penix throws all sort of pressure on Kirk Cousins. Kirk needs time to get acclimated to his new team, number 1. Secondly, he's gonna have a NFL ready QB right over his shoulder waiting to pounce. And with the defense being weak (especially after not drafting a stud defensive player at #8) Cousins will lose games that aren't his fault. The Vikings struggled to win, not because of Cousins' play, but because their defense wasn't good enough. The same thing may happen in Atlanta.

Billionaires overpaying Millionaires is normal. Grabbing your insurance policy is Priceless

It was a brilliant move by the Falcons, they're thinking about the future. There's no competition, Kirk's career is done! His legacy is cemented, his money is guaranteed, so why not help the kid?

$100M Guaranteed is so FAIR...Cam Newton saying Prayers, and Changing his name‼️

Am I the only one that thinks this is a good idea? The old way they used to do quarterbacks is let them study for a couple years so they can be ready mentally to come into the games. Steve Young, Aaron Rodgers, Jordan love, the list goes on. If I’m Michael Penix, and Kirk cousins I’m happy. Kirk got paid and a deal so the Falcons can say that they are 100% invested, and should he go down, the guy that’s the next generation is already there they don’t need to go looking for him. is it a distraction? It sure is, but that’s how you know you made the right decision. The fans aren’t gonna be chanting for the second guy if the second guy isn’t good. I actually think it’s a genius move. The opposite is “we need a quarterback now” and then you’re scrambling trying to find a guy, and then have him learn in real time, and if he doesn’t do well, that makes him a bust… because you know we jump to conclusions when a player doesn’t enter the Hall of Fame in his first year… Justin Fields.

Since when did feelings matter in any level of football past pop Warner? Anybody who get me a dub will start, dog eat dog baby, no promise other than the opportunity.
  • @savydemon1892
Bruh the only bad move is paying a trash Qb all that money 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
  • @TT-dv9er
Aaron Rogers went into the season perfectly healthy and the Jets had a top ranked defense. They ended up in the same situation after 1 drive in the first game. 66 quarterbacks started last year.
  • @darnellking3391
It use to be a Player drafted No.1 had to sit on the bench for 2 or 3yrs before they got a shot, now some Players (Not All) start Right Away.
  • @irandleIV
Atlanta messed up bad by paying Cousins all that money. That was an extremely bone head move. Had they paid him something decent and not ridiculous, drafting Penix wouldn’t look so stupid.

Cam Newton is the MAN! What great points he made through this entire podcast. He gives you the player perspective and unless Cousins balls out, Cam told you what's gonna happen there. That was HILARIOUS what he said about the cop that pulled him over asked him about the Falcons pick!! I laughed out loud hard on that one. And change the jersey to Kirk GUARANTEED. Fantasttic!! Spoken like a true player.
