Imagine an Austrian and a Dutch dude living on an Italian Mountain and exhange thoughts and ideas in English. Life can be sweet.

Johannes seems like he’s living the best priest life up there. Such an awesome garden and beautiful house, and he seems so chill.

Fascinating to follow this man as he builds in such a beautiful, peaceful place. Makes me wish I wasn't too old (75) to follow his example. In this increasingly stressful world such a retreat from the noise of the world is desirable.
  • Johannes is amazing, I came across his story on another Youtube channel and he explained how he restored his abandoned dwelling. His gardening skills are also terrific. What a great neighbor to have!

Unfortunately the geometra is right about the paperworks and their prices if you want to make important changes to the barn's structure or facades... If you ever need advices we are two architects currently going through the same process with our stone house in the Ligurian Alps, don't hesitate to get in touch we'll be happy to share our modest knowledge

What a beautiful cabin your neighbour has! I love how he ‘created light’ by making the inside walls mostly plaster with a few rocks exposed. Lovely.

Watching this again in Feb '23 and I can see how far this place has come since Martijn has done so much work...awesome, man.

I'm coming up for 3 years renovating a French Farm house that potentially dates back to sometime in the 1700s. Its been super stressful, testing and at times cold ( I will never forget those first couple of weeks), BUT what I've learnt and the experience and memories we have made (Partner and 2 dogs) and the accomplishments achieved are sooo worth it! Seeing you starting on your beautiful cabin and making those first moves again; a time when you're stripped back to absolute necessities and nothing more and being pushed by nature to show you what you're really made of makes me really want to start all over again and enjoy a truly raw, rustic existence once more
  • So thankful that you numbered your episode so I cn easily follow your journey.

You know your in a peaceful place when the roar of one cup of coffee is calling your attention!

How fortunate for both Johannes and you to be neighbours....a formidable match for the mountain. You will definitely benefit from each other's knowledge, company and support. Both of you equally fascinating....an enviable little neighbourhood. ❤️🇨🇦

I’m amazed not only by the amount of work involved but that you took the time to do such a great job of filming the progress. So many different angle shots must have added to your work day.

Martin, in Alaska, the hunters would jam moss from the trees in the cracks of their cabins to keep the heat in. Then in the summer months they would make a mud using the local dirt, water, and moss, mix together to put in the cracks before winter came again.
  • Martijn and Fr. Johannes - two of my favorite off-the-grid vloggers. It's a great life if you are strong and healthy.
  • @Susan.I
Martin the priest has a wonderful garden! It’s nice to have a neighbor!

I have been watching for a couple of weeks and I have so many questions and thoughts about this adventure in Italy. The video work is excellent and the editing and audio is very balanced and pleasing even with so little speaking. Martijn you are a natural.

That is a fabulous box Emma. Even I’m tempted to get it 😆 Connie at Ceebees Colouring and Craft has done a couple of zentangle videos instead of colouring. She also did a “zentangled” fish page for the Kerby event.
  • I love the fact that he has a drone. Adds so much to this wonderful experience. I have falled down this rabbit hole of an adventure with delight!! He has some serious skills. I wish he would list the temperature of the nights when he moved into town. Would be very interesting to know.
