Brings memories, 44 years ago in Iran when I was a conscript in army I was driving one of this amazing trucks, there was no place this vehicle couldn’t go , steering was hard , but in that age I built some muscles, you had to engage the starter by foot, great effective and simple machine.

I guess I never realized these trucks were still running flat head 6 cylinders (well past 1968). I'm sure 2 stroke diesels were also in the mix, but the flat head 6 would be low enough compression to run on almost any octane gasoline yet still provide the torque needed to get the truck down the road. It really does make sense why they stuck with the flathead design given their wide deployment all over the world. Awesome video!

Я на зиле- 157 на Урале 375 бензиновый, и на зиле 130 в Германии ездил,время от времени возил учеников 5-6 классов на автобусе из полка в дивизию.Прекпасное время- ГДР.

У нас в армейской мастерской связи такой ЗИЛ был. К нему приколхозили электронное зажигание и он легко на прямой передаче скачками с места трогался. А в морозное время по тревоге заводился первым и вытаскивал остальные машины (ЗИЛ 130) на буксире. Простая и исключительно надежная техника. В 86-ом осенью ездил на таком на учения по Одесской и Николаевской областям. В Снегирёвке останавливались. А теперь она в сводках. Эх, до чего мы дожили!!!

А у меня Отец работал на ЗИЛ 164 с такой же кабиной. Не забываемые ощущения когда он меня брал на работу! Настольгия!

Я на таком захаре отработал пять лет мне сейчас шесдесят пять лет и я скажу что эта машина одна из самых лучших в СССР.проходимость изумительная но есть инедостатки но они меркнут при ее надёжностью ивыносливостью.
