Classic NASCAR Stock Cars Take Road Atlanta: Racing Hard and Mistakes Were Made

Every year the Historic Sportscar Racing group hosts The Mitty at Road Atlanta. Today we went to check out the NASCAR Stock Car class that had something like 38 competitors on track at the same time! We have everything from authentic survivor cars, recreations, and some that are purpose built for these events like the one Joe Nemechek has. There has never been one place to hear every type of engine and exhaust combo in one place! A live example of the old superspeedway X pipe sound compared to the 1987 Monte Carlo Aerocoupe of James Hylton. I would highly recommend attending an HSR event if you are into classic NASCAR! Mike Helton was even walking around in the pits that day.

It was actually amazing to see so many of these cars running wide open in one place. I wish the races were longer! Which car was your favorite? If you like the video leave a thumbs up to help out and make sure you’re subscribed to see the next video!
  • I love the sound of the older stock cars, less restricted and just wanting to be unleashed, screaming top song

The one bummer is you didn't get the chance to talk to Front Row Joe. My favorite driver growing up. I miss him in NASCAR so much

Love the at speed on the straightaway! Never gets old, an engine turning 9-9500!!! Nothing like it!

Thankyou to all the people who keep these pieces of history going out and doing what they were made for. Instead of ratting them and letting them go to waste. Looking forward to the day you run yours. I love seeing this sort of thing.

Awesome video. It was fun to watch the cars race on the track and hear the sound of that horsepower. Nice to see all these good folks talking with you about each car too. Yes I would like to see a video of Geoff Bodine's Bud Moore Ford. Thanks Stapleton42.
