  • Words cannot express how much I miss pre-2000s culture and general sense of optimism.
  • Man, I love this style of music. I was born in 1990 and was so full of dreams and aspirations. Now it's 2024 and I'm a burnout working 50+ hours a week in healthcare with bleak hopes for the future. Wish we could hit that rewind button, I'd do so many things differently. Sending you all good vibes.

I was born in 1989! 👶🏻 I got to experience childhood in the mid 1990s - early 2000’s. It was a great time to be a kid at least here in the USA. We played outside all day. The internet was still in its infancy. We trusted our neighbors. We made eye contact. Human interaction was a real thing. I miss those days. Ignorance is bliss.. we didn’t know the future would be so bleak.

The hands 😨 The hands are always the giveaway. Great tracks though!
  • @petebondurant58
I was 17/18 that year. I would go on to graduate from high school and join the Navy in 1990. None of the hopes and dreams of that eighteen year old young man would come to fruition, and what was once the modern present, has slipped into the distant past...and I cannot fathom how it all vanished so quickly.
  • I feel comfy here, reading all these comments and thinking about their lives. Take care

What made the 1980s such a wonderful time for many is that technology was just enough to make life more convenient and fun without making everyone a slave to it. Children and even adults would be outside playing sports, riding bikes, swimming in the pools, playing games, or hanging out in the parks (there were parks with lots of trees and playgrounds on just about every neighborhood street corner it seemed). Shopping malls, roller skating rinks, and arcades were always packed. Pizza Huts, Blockbuster, and movie theaters were always packed on Friday and Saturday nights. Oddly enough, I don't recall as many fitness gyms as there are today. Even in the 1970s and early 1990s, it was like this too. Family values were still strong, patriotism was normal, friendships were genuine, the music was real and moved the soul, and food was not only used as nutritional medicine but was real food! And the feeling of positivity, being in control of your life, and creating your own destiny without barely any interference from government made the 1980s amazing. Sure, there were problems back then but not as crazy and chaotic as it is today. I just cannot express enough how "radical" the 1980s were. I wish everyone could go back in time and experience it.

I was born in 83. If I could, I`d go back to the 80s and re-experience it all over again.
  • @smithplus
People in the 80s and 90s were longing for an earlier time as well. Live it up you're in a future generations idea of heaven
  • @newretrowave01
I feel so comfy here, reading all these comments and imagining everyone's lives.

I was 24 in 1989---just moved to Philadelphia and life was good (and fun). No internet, social media, etc. Music and nightlife was so much fun in '89. Sure, there were problems so but nothing like today. I would go back in a minute--it was one of my favorite years.
  • I was born in 1985. The 80s contain my earliest memories. This will never not be comforting to me.
  • @severusdeath
I grew up in the 80s. My kids ask about it all the time. I’ve kept games and stuff from the era, they love it. It wasn’t a perfect time but in my little world as a kid it was. So many great memories. While this is a great time in my life, I’d love to go back for awhile.

Every comment I've read reflects my own feelings. I was born in 1972. My youngest daughter just graduated from high school. I really wish she had the opportunity to live in a time pre internet and pre cell phone, as I suspect most people commenting here and myself did.
  • As a child of the 90s, I could still feel that optimism during my formative years before the internet took over the world, when we had to make plans beforehand because cell phones were not ubiquitous.
