Mucking Around: Hard Rock Gold Mining Episode 13

Published 2022-10-24
With a couple of hours free to go up to the mine and transport for the Young Buggy delayed again,I fired up the fans and got some work done in the decline. Air slack from recent rains caused a minor rib failure that needed to be dealt with. Ultimately that area will be rebolted and screened if not shotcreted; it's been a recurring issue and the rib already pulled through two split-sets.

Sorry about the occasional audio distortion, I'm having mic issues with high-noise environments.

  • I loved the editing in this one! The time-lapse with music was a nice touch! I'm glad you are finally mucking out material!
  • Razor rocks are a real issue in hard rock mining! I would rather use tracked machinery, personally. But then, I only have tracked machinery, so that's how I roll.

When I seen that rock fall on that rib it reminded me when my dad talked about rockburst on pillars, have you ever encountered that?
  • Two buggy’s will certainly increase your load count turnaround times. Where are you placing all that waste? Do you have old drifts you can back fill or are you going to haul it out?

Sounds like she's working hard. Are you hauling material out now or still doing a lot of rehab?
