Peter Singer: Animal Liberation, Forty Years On

Published 2015-09-30
Peter Singer’s Animal Liberation, often credited with starting the modern animal rights movement, was first published in September 1975. In this lecture, the author assesses how well the argument has stood up over that period, and what progress has been made towards the changes in our treatment of animals that the book advocates.

Currently reading animal liberation. It is a tool that will enhance your logical reasoning. Strongly recommend it!

When the guy introducing Peter said "I'm no longer a vegetarian..." I was waiting for the moment where he says "I'm now a vegan" - That moment never came! 🤬🤬
  • How do you ethically kill someone who does not want to die? Please enlighten us, Mr moderator man!

They really could not find someone to introduce Singer who actually followed his philosophy? Why is this guy talking about an ethical way of eating meat?

Vegan 5 years now! We can do this people

Professor Singer sounds like a genius compared to those answering questions and/or making comments.

Vegan for Animals ❤ one of the best decision of my life.
  • There is no ethical way to cause immense suffering to animals you don't need to exploit and kill, bro... what the? ? ?

That introductory speaker would've done a better job if he'd limited his remarks to only jestures and grunting.

Awesome. Another great video which briefly summarizes the philosophy of animal rights of the one by crash course philosophy, part 42. I also like watching videos by Earthling Ed's speeches or Cosmic Skeptic speeches. Gary Yourofsky also makes great speeches I recommend checking out. I'm vegan and think everyone who can should be vegan. For more information on this deeply important topic I recommend checking out the channels I mentioned earlier, as well as watching documentaries like "dominion", "the game changers", "what the health", and "cowspiracy".

The moderator man doesn’t believe in what he’s introducing…. What a joke!…. Worst introduction ever! It’s actually disrespectful to laugh at eating animals in a room that supposed to talk about animal liberation! I wish this awesome writer/speaker would have a better introduction. Peter singer is amazing.

There are no valid arguments for unnecessarily eating animals (and it can be handled so it's never necessary for anyone)
