I made my fiancée play Resident Evil, both the original PS1 game and the remake. I love Resident Evil, I've covered the franchise extensively on this channel in the past, but it was time to put it through the ringer and see what would happen when my other half spent a night in the Spencer Mansion!

The music used during the final boss fight is a remix of the Save Room Theme by @MonoMemory - HUGE fan of their work, and they've done remixes of all the big themes!

I'm 5min in and I regret putting this on at work, because the PS1 controls debacle has me creasing, I have to contain my laugh so hard it's painful.
  • @ZRFehr
Her coming out of the menu from healing to get absolutely bodied by that dog was hysterical.
  • @teachersama
I'll say it again: Her laughter is so freaking contagious!
  • That was fun! I always appreciate that it's not Monty just watching his fiancée suffer, it's commentary on what the game does and doesn't do to introduce the game and series to a new player. It provides a unique glimpse into what makes a game stick for a person and what drives them away. Thanks Monty and Noobus!
  • I cried laughing at her trying to control the old resident evil 🤣

That slow back away from the first zombie was perfect comedic timing. The funniest thing I've ever seen in resi haha
  • You both laugh like you're 60 years old. The silent wheezing cackle. Love it

This is such a brilliant video series. Examining a game through the eyes of someone who doesn’t “game” super frequently or is new to a series or genre. It’s fun, engaging, deeper than just a funny surface level, and you are both so entertaining and the production value is amazing as well. I spent today working my way through the entire playlist and it’s been great…can’t wait for the next one. Congrats to both of you on the engagement and thanks for some great content to accompany my day.
  • The thought of her leaving the room because The Callisto Protocol physically repulses people is hilarious Goddamn i will never get my money back

Actually, the game does give you a heads up on Crimson Heads if you take the time to find & collect all the notes & papers left around all over the mansion. Some of the notes mention that zombies would revive with reddened skin, code named "Crimson Heads", and to prevent this, canisters of kerosene are left about to fill your flask, or even better, take advantage of the Grenade Ammo glitch to give yourself around 240 Incendiary Rounds, more than enough rounds to prevent any future Crimson Heads & deal with all the advanced enemies & bosses (only works on the US GameCube version though).

Those reactions to the OG RE cutscenes were correct. It's like how you can watch Dr. Giggles as a kid and have nightmares but you watch it now while drinking with friends and it's comedy gold.
  • Cracking episode! Would you consider having Mrs Monty play through the whole series? I’d watch the hell out of that!
  • Awww, her cold reading the patrons at the end was great! Good job, Noobus.

I feel like the biggest hurdle is that RE1 establishes all your people as being in the foyer and then they aren't and it gives you the objective find wesker (which seems like a very mild first objective to do, since y'all were together in the foyer like 30 seconds ago). You don't end up finding him till the midsection which is so long that most people, without context or history, will think they've done something wrong or missed him which makes the puzzles that are actually progress feel like side content or at the very least wastes of time (since you've been explicitly tasked with finding someone who should logically be nearby).
  • @OneTrueNobody
I'm guessing she missed the file in the safe room that warns you about the Crimson Heads and explains that you need to burn the zombies to stop it from happening, eh?
  • @godfunk
It’s sometimes hard to forget how damn scary the game was in comparison to the sequels. The fixed camera was optimized against the gorgeously rendered detail of the mansion. You’re stuck in a horror movie, and you have to savor every resource found for your character to survive. It’s a simple premise as timeless as horror itself
  • @Takyomi
She has the patience of a saint. Really great video.

I grew up with tank controls, so for me it's easy and natural. My brain has a hard time understanding how anyone finds it difficult, just point where the characters head is. Always fun to see someone play these games for the first time though. The crimson head surprise never gets old haha!
