Each episode features a regional competition and contestants are challenged to produce a portrait of one of three famous sitters.

  • I'm floored that he went the whole way winning and winning using only graphite. Then switching to oil paint and killing it. Master artist.

Wow! The final portrait is breathtaking. He certainly deserved to win.

The portrait by Gareth literally took my breath away at the moment of its revelation. Congratulations for a portrait that jolts the inner being of the viewer!

I love Graham Norton and his quick wit and animated personality. Gareth went beyond what we see on tv. Anyone who knows someone that is so animated and quick witted knows that after the "Bursts" of energy these wonderful people go down and have a tender, contemplative side,. This is what Gareth painted. Gifted Genius painting a Gifted Genius. Amazing!

Tears sprang into my eyes when the cloth was dropped. I could not believe how beautiful it was. He had painted a masterpiece. I knew that he was a great painter and had a wonderful subject. I am grateful just to see this documentary.

The final commission is simply gorgeous - introspective and moving. Gareth's personal collection shown earlier in the episode was also wonderfully sensitive and understated. What is curious to me is that his drawings throughout the competition were very different tonally and stylistically. This portrait of Graham was utterly unexpected based on what we saw of his charcoal drawings. During the season, I had the impression the judges chose to advance Gareth in part due to his choice of medium (in addition to his skill, of course). I wish they had been at the unveiling to share their thoughts.

I can't stop looking at the painting... You can see the contemplative Graham. But you can still really see his cheerful personality quite blatantly even in those beautiful muted colors... Genius Gareth!

This is crazy. It's like it was meant to be, synchronicity.

What a SPLENDID painting! And such a surprise connection! Well done!

Not only is this man talented but a humble, likeable, man as well. His portrait of Graham moves me.

I think this is the best portrait so far! He looks real in the painting! Excellent work! And I really like the artist and Graham at the end!

Tremendous job of capturing Graham’s likeness and soul … and to discover that these two very talented men are actually related, as well! This has been a heartwarming documentary.
  • @grcdcknsn
I love how much footage they added of the sittings they had together and listening to them talk because they had such a nice connection and it was beautiful watching him work
  • @loripettit6830
I thoroughly enjoyed watching Graham’s portrait come to fruition. Not only was his likeness captured, but also his soul. Well done! ❤️

This portrait blew me away. I am so glad he decided to do it in paint. His drawings are no less impressive. But, for me, Graham needed to be painted. He is a larger than life personality and this artist understood that and did justice to the man painting him as himself and not the "entertainer" everyone knows and loves. Bravo.

A beautiful portrait and two such authentic, likeable people - AND they're related. I have so enjoyed watching this show. I can't wait to visit Ireland.
  • @maxx1000
The three judges were absent... Would like to have heard their feedback.
