In May of 2011, Rob O’Neill and a group of America’s most experienced Navy SEALS embarked on Operation Neptune Spear. After giving the go ahead from Obama and the U.S. Military, the team flew to Pakistan where Bin Laden was hiding out in a highly secured compound. What happened next would change history forever and etch O’Neill into the history books as the man who put Bin Laden six feet under.

Watch as O’Neill sits down with Joe to discuss his incredible life story where he went from an unassuming kid from Montana to becoming one of the government’s most skilled assassins. Rob shares his experiences training as a SEAL, how it impacted his family life, the phenomenal missions he completed, and the psychological toll it took on him. Rob gives us full vulnerability as he shares his story of life, loss, and unrelenting drive to push past fear and towards victory.

This is the first installment of Humans, a new talk series where Joe interviews some of the most unique people in the world to shed light on their one in a million experiences. This is a big step away from the music industry and away from Joe Budden’s typical demographic. Humans aims to show viewers people with unbelievable stories that only they could live through.

Good ol boy from Montana and a brother from Jersey sitting down and having a conversation the country needs more of this it’s crazy how much we have in common
  • This guy is 100 percent one of the most bad ass humans to ever take a breath. Respect this man to no end. Hero is a understatement
  • @mattmillie007
I don’t think I’ve ever heard or seen an interview, where the person being interviewed carried the entire interview himself from start to finish. Wow, just wow. This was an absolutely amazing story to hear & experience.
  • went to school with this dude from 5th grade thru high school. what u see here is the real dude. he's a good guy from a great family. (and a better 3pt shooter than he lets on :) )

As a veteran who served in Afghanistan, this interview gave me chills! Thanks, Joe, for interviewing Mr. Rob O’Neil. Rob is one hell of a storyteller; it felt like I was there with him. 😮
  • Joe trying to talk to a trained killer about feelings and emotions is the funniest shit ever 😂
  • Man. I did 5 years in the USMC infantry, 2009-2014 (2 deployments). And I really need to tip my hat to these frogmen. They’re a different breed. The amount of training required to be elite is unimaginable by most.

This was the best interview Joe has ever done. Joe allowed the man to talk without speaking over him.
  • This is without a doubt one of the best interviews Joe has ever done. Shout out to Joe and huge shout out to Rob O'Neill. This was amazing

Don't let Rob's humility and folksy "Aww shucks..." country boy demeanor fool you. This man was one of the finest SEALs the US Navy ever built. He entered BUD/s at 19 yrs old standing 6'2", and in tremendous shape because he was previously a college basketball player. No colleges anywhere— no matter how small they are —hand out scholarships to people who aren't above average athletes. The student-athletes at even the tiniest Div. 3 schools are composed of people who are physically superior to the average working man. Rob had all the advantages upon entering into SEAL training because he was both a lifelong athlete, and an avid outdoorsman. He's very competitive by nature, and he absolutely hates losing at absolutely anything. He had plenty of experience with guns, hunting/tracking, and surviving nature's elements from growing up in the frozen forests of Montana hunting big game. Without question, Rob was cut out for the Navy SEALs. He's inherently curious and attentive by nature, and he has a steel trap mind. He has fast reaction times; was already a compotent marksman prior to enlisting; and his reflexes have always told him to think first before panicking. Rob had all the qualities SEAL instructors look for in new recruits. If you've ever listened to the content of other former SEALs and Tier 1 operators, you'll have heard the term "one percenter" get thrown around before. The 1% were the guys in special forces training everyone else in the class hated because they were not only the physically superior athletes, but they also always seemed to "get it" instantly. They never fell behind during PT, and they mostly passed their hardgate tests the first time, every time. That was Rob. He was one of those detestable "one percenters" the rest of the class simply couldn't hang with. Again, don't let his humility and blue collar values fool you. Rob O'Neill was always destined to become an elite warrior someday. He just has the class to never be the one who says it.

The dialogue between these two people from vastly different walks of life and views have is incredible. Two humans having a human conversation. One of the best podcasts I've had the pleasure of listening to in awhile.
  • What a fantastic, amazing, mind blowing interview! I’m intensely proud of Rob and I’d love to buy him a beer and listen to whatever he wanted to talk about.
  • @axelsola9352
Amazing conversation. I'm overwhelmed with gratitud because this man really put everything into perspective. God bless this man. And thank you for the insightful and absolutely unpausable interview I've ever watched.
  • "If your worry can't help it, why waste your energy. " It's hard in the moment to accept, but truly this is one of those truths of life. Much like how, holding a grudge only burdens the person holding it. Once you can apply these to your life, it does become more calm.

That quit tomorrow speech was inspiring as hell 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿

Perspective and experience is everything. One person came from an animal hunting city and the other came from a human hunting city. I love this! It shows why conversation is so important
  • @sandynaj
I will never forget this interview. Watched it months ago and I still bring it up in conversations
