As a 2nd year medical student your videos are saving my life. Thank you so much !
  • I was diagnosed with Barrett's Esophagus and Gerd ( acid reflux) which I've had gerd since early childhood. I've been tried on many medications but the only one that works for me is nexium. I also have a hiatus hernia and also gastritis. Also for a couple years now ( and it's got worse) my throat has been going into spasms and food, water and i can't even swallow when it gets stuck in my throat and it's painful and dysphagia and they're is nothing i can do until it stops on it's own. The last time i had an endoscopy done my throat went into spasms as well when i was getting the endoscopy done. It happens at home and i never know when it's going to happen. Recently the Doctor added a new medication another one for heartburn and i already take nexium to. They're sending me to another GI specialist in my area and they scheduled another endoscopy to try and figure out why stuff gets stuck in my throat and to see why my throat goes into spasms. I'm not overweight and ive never been overweight and i have always eaten a healthy diet because I've had my gallbladder removed many years ago and i don't eat anything fried at all and still can't eat salads and i haven't drank anything with carbonated water in it like soda since I've been a kid. I don't lie flat down i have to prop myself up so they're going to do another endoscopy soon i have to see the GI specialist to get another referral because the one i had expired i have many health issues going on unfortunately but hopefully i will get some answers soon and they can help me get better somehow. Thanks for the video and God Bless all and hope everyone is doing well.

Absolutely love your presentation, the way you talk and call some doctors doofuses. It’s a fun way to learn instead of being all clinical and stuffy which becomes so boring.
  • So helpful with your graphics and sense of humor. Was not bored a single second, thank you 🙏🙏

Am navigating this issue as a patient. This channel popped up in my attempt to learn more about my symptoms/diagnosis without explanation from my various doctors. Thank you for the info.. The delivery of the info. helps to make sense of it all and to retain it better.

Thank you for your video. I just opened and read a letter from the hospital from my gastroscopy, that I have a chronic inflammation in my gastrointestinal tract, and I read the phrase "Barret's Esophagus" in the files. The letter say's that this could lead to cancer, something quite depressing to think of, since I'm only 44 years old. I quit smoking, because I was worried about a pain in the chest, but I figured out that the feeling of pain, even if it got a bit better, is still there after a couple years with no tobacco now, and it's horrible to lie down to sleep, and I've had to not only use a pillow, but also the whole duvet blanket on top of the pillow and sleeping partly in "uphill". I suddenly had to get an evening and a night in the hospital a couple of months ago, filling two huge bags of blood plasma into my veins, and they wondered where I had lost so much blood, but no answer of that question. I hope I won't die in too short a time, because I have a son that needs me. I wonder if there's anything I can do to prevent this thing developing into cancer. I've had a habit of eating heavy, fatty meals, drinking cola, smoking half my life (but at least stopped that one), having quite a bit of spices etc. I've been a cheese addict since early childhood. I've noticed when I eat salads I feel much better, and I wonder if there's other things beside lettuce that can help me?

On the mnemonic you pointed at the globe when referring to feeling like something is stuck on my chest. I think the globe represent globus which represents feeling a lump on your throat. Very informative video appreciate all you do!
  • I'm only 33yrs old. I've had 40cms of Barrett's since I was 22yrs old due to a Sliding Hernia that kept allowing my stomach to slide into my throat literally right under my chest plate. This also caused my stomach to be the size of someone who was 9 months pregnant and everytime the top portion of my stomach would go into my Oesophagus it made the whole that is supposed to shut after food or liquids to pass through to stay open 24/7 and I was throwing about about 17x a day. I even had reflux surgery done but bc they wrap your stomach around your oesophagus this really doesn't allow you to burp and now im constantly bloated and eat once a day and that and that small food i eat takes forever to digest so I bloat all the time even if I just had some water. Its truly horrible how I feel and I'm booked for another surgery for it.
