Her eyes look teary in the undressed picture. I imagine how scared and vulnerable a child felt in midst of unkind strangers. Poor girl. My heart breaks for her.

Charles actually couldn’t close his mouth because of his jaw but painters were not allowed to paint his mouth open so they closed it to try to make it look more normal

it’s hella bold for the Spanish king to make fun of people’s appearance and deformities when his own parents had the same parents

King: makes fun of "ugly" people also King: possibly one of the most visually hideous humans to ever exist
  • The painters really saw her. What they had to do was wretched, but they didn't disguise the pain on her face. I believe they told the truth with their brushes. And at the same time they showed the natural beauty Eugenia was, with her glowing skin, bright eyes, rose blossom mouth, and a lot of shining black hair.

I want to see a realistic model of what Charles 2 would've actually looked out without the generosity of court artists.
  • @roove1537
Ironically, if Charles II hadn't been born royal, he would have been in the same station as Eugenia due to his own deformities.

Spanish King: Mocks people with abnormalities Also Spanish King: has a head that looks like a cartoon crescent moon.
  • As horrific as her situation was, the fact is that at that time her life was probably extended by living in relative physical comfort at the palace instead of at home with parents struggling to feed her and other siblings, people didn't have cupboards full of food back then. I only hope that her parents were able to contact her somehow down through the years.
  • How sad she looked in the naked portrait, tears almost spilling out of her eyes. what monsters THEY were
  • Well, the painter at least had the decency to capture her incredible sadness rather than showing her off to be happy
  • @Skyeyez99
Being forced to stand naked and exposed for hours for her portrait's only purpose to ridicule her. How abhorrent, and heartbreaking. The lain in her eyes was evident.
  • @Clownpunx.
Poor thing. I actually think she was quite beautiful. The picture of her undressed is so heartbreaking. You can see how teary her eyes are and it is just so sad to imagine such a young girl being treated that way. Poor darling.
  • Born in a church and they still called her ugly? Sis was nothing else but a blessing.
  • Wow, that's bold as hell considering how the Spanish kings looked. Poor kiddo
  • Two paintings “The monster clothed and the monster unclothed” 🥺 these people were monsters to do this to her and perverted too. They make me sick 🤢

It is a genetic thing. I went to school with a girl who was bigger than our teacher in 2nd grade. It took us till highschool to catch up with her size. She was not fat, just big as hell at an early age. She turned into a fabulously beautiful woman. Like this one, she was tormented throughout her childhood. No one actually dared to confront her to face. She could screw your head into the ground like a twig. It was nice that she had a good nature. Interesting humans.
