it's nice to hear about boys who are sweet and not stereotypical. my boys are the same! i like how homeschool facilitates each child being who they truly are

We aim to finish up our school day before lunch too! But we are flexible if we need to wrap up something later in the day too. It's amazing!
  • I'm interested to hear about your Spanish curriculum. We have started with Rosetta Stone and I'm looking to supplement because it seems to move pretty quick for my learner. Can't wait to watch that video! We just started homeschool a few weeks ago and we are doing 4 days a week. I'm sharing videos of our journey as well.
  • We are only one week in school but that first week went really well ❤😁

We’re starting homeschool for the first time next week with my middle schooler! I’m initially planning for a little more hands-on / guided learning because I’m not happy with what our public school seems to think is an acceptable level of reading comprehension, but I’m looking forward to it! I would love to see how you and Bella are planning together! Our school didn’t require the use of planners, and my kiddo is not a fan so I need all the help I can get to find a method that works!

We are in week 4 this week! The first 2 weeks were rough with my 5 year old, but I think we got in the swing of things. 5th grade for my daughter is awesome this year! We are loving TGAB Level 4 and the creative companion! I'm really happy with the addition of IEW for her and she seems to enjoy writing now (so far).

I love your passion for learning a new language! I am starting the same thing, only with Latin tomorrow! I only took French in high school (because Spanish classes were always full by the time they got around to calling the kids with the last name starting with W!) and only a few words have stuck- I am SO looking forward to the learning together!

Every time I hear or see your boys I am so shocked at how mild mannered they seem. All your kids in fact. I've got 3 boys and 1 girl and my boys are WILD. It makes school, listening, obedience, getting along.....just everything SO hard. 😔 praying a lot for our school year, which begins Wednesday!

Watching this made me so excited to get started this year! I'm glad you all are off to a good start! My son wants to start a week early, so I we'll start Aug. 31st.

Love this ♥️ at what age did you get your children into music lessons?
  • Fun to watch. I guess I'm in the evaluating stage myself after a trip this week...The first week went well, but we've had several 2-3 day weeks because of birthdays and trips in our house, so I'm sort of longing for some consistency before seeing what all will really work or not work this year. Lol. Question: Do you still do sabbath school as your schedule or do you kind of place those weeks off when they work for you guys? At this point, I am doing a school-year schedule with a longer Christmas break, and a few weeks off here and there where it fits with holidays and/or our schedule, but a more consistent sabbath school schedule is starting to look more appealing. I'm looking into it a little for next year, so just wondering what yours looked like. I watched an older video where you shared you did 6 weeks off and one week on, but I don't know if I missed a more recent one that explained your schedule now. Thanks!
  • Glad to hear things with middle school are going so well! We love the SCM history/geo and bible and YWAM. Preschool 😂 ❤️ my youngest is the same way so now that she is officially starting K I am wondering what I am in for. We will be finishing up school and starting a new school year in Jan since 2020 was been so crazy and hard. I am very interested in hearing more about your Spanish choice. My kids need to learn more . 😬 my mom gets on me that they don’t know much all the time. Thanks for sharing! Term updates would be neat to hear! Blessings!!

I’m glad Bella is doing so well with 6th grade and your first month is doing well! We picked remote learning for my 5th grade daughter and then her school is doing all school remote learning for at least the first 6 weeks. First day of school was supposed to be August 19th but since they now have to scramble and figure remote learning for the whole school they’ve pushed start date to the 24th or 31st! They’re having weekly school board meetings so hopefully we’ll find out tonight when the first day of school will be and what it will look like!
  • The first week of our homeschool school was great, long and hard because we added some things. Then week 2 was a bust too much life stuff and same with week 3, but week 4 was great we paired back a little and got back on track and now its going great! I would love to be done by lunch, but we love in Texas and have a small family farm. So we spend most of the morning outside with animals and gardening and start school after lunch during the hottest part of the day. It still only takes us about 4 hours a day. As for my 11 year old and his book analysis, that's not quite what he is really for. He still needs the hand holding and truly he's my kids that just doesn't like to read no matter how we approach it, but one day he'll get there. So for now we are back to audio books and him reading to me and of course read aloud time by mom. Grammar is also something we put back on the shelf. Its driving both of us nuts...copywork and mad libs will just have to be enough for now. But looking into other options. Thanks for sharing!
  • Love the music confession. That is me too. But all my kids take music lessons. My two oldest are good about practicing their instruments on their own. But my youngest needs a lot of direction. The struggle is real.
  • I would love a preschool day in the life video :) Annie sounds a lot like my preschooler!
  • I'm in north Florida and I love BSF!! My kids love it too. I was supposed to be a leader this year too but since its on zoom it would be very challenging to lead with 3 young children at home and homeschooling. Very sad over it. I'm too already looking forward to fall 2021.
