The power of acts of kindness

Published 2017-12-24
Kindness is not simply an act of compassion; it also produces a hormone that has a healthful effect on the heart's arteries. Lee Cowan talks with author David Hamilton, who teaches about the physical and biochemical benefits of kindness; to a couple who set out to do one small act of kindness every day for an entire year, spreading the news on social media; and to the founder of Think Kindness, a program to teach schoolkids that no kind act is too small.

  • This is true because I feel my best when I’m doing something for someone else just to do it. Nothing in return. Nothing to be gained except the feeling of being kind.

Always give. We've all been wanting, lonely, bullied, wrung out, hopeless. Give always, it heals your heart.

The Greatest Generation DID kind things for strangers. They taught kindness. Let’s honor them by emulating them. Teach our children and their children what they taught us but have not been doing. Be kind. Spread kindness every day in their honor. Peace be with you all.

A small thing that I have done, that warms me inside. The next time you are checking out at the store, buy a lottery ticket and give it to the person behind you in line. Wish them good luck, and ask them to share kindness.
    The reaction may surprise you.
  • How different this is from today with the push for self-centeredness, activism, yelling in the face of people you know or don't know, identity politics, rioting, etc!

Incredibly well-structured work; similar to a book that provided a detailed perspective. "Kindness Unveiled: A Journey to a Happier Life" by Noah Evergreen
