It's weird how when your car is under warranty the dealer can never find anything wrong, but when your warranty is over they want to fix everything.

Toyota is rethinking the Scotty statue they had planned to install at their headquarters.

We had a problem with a Honda dealership and they pretty much told us to stick it. My younger brother wrote a formal letter to the Japanese headquarters and it took less than a week for the local dealership to beg us to come and pick up the $5000. check they overcharged us. They were very respectful and the dealer owner's hand was shaking as he got us to sign off that we were now satisfied. I heard that dealer was going to lose the right to buy cars from Honda if they could not satisfy us. True story.

$1,800 to get service done on our Toyota V8 2009 landcruiser, went to another mechanic and he got it fixed for $75

That Tennessee Toyota dealership's Service Manager should be ashamed. That entire department needs a serious refresher in how to evaluate a vehicle properly.

This is a known "issue" with these 5th Gen 4Runners. It's an old engine, but still bullet proof. I've heard on the forums that the noise goes away after a very long break in period. Mine is new, so can't confirm. But we're all aware of it and these things are still running well beyond 300,000 miles on the odometer and being driven through some of the worst terrain and road conditions. If you are a 5th Gen 4Runner owner, don't lose sleep over it. This issue has been beat to death on the forums. Everyone hears it, but not a single person on the net or a single Toyota rep has been able to identify even one instance, anywhere, of this being an issue. Remember, the 5th gen 4Runner is from 2009! Old, but reliable.

The dealer himself will be inviting Scotty over for afternoon tea. DON'T DRINK IT, Scotty!
