Rena Quint was born as Freida "Freidel" Lichtenstein in 1935 in Piotrkow, Poland. In 1939, the Nazis occupied her hometown, forever altering the course of her life. By 1942, both of Rena's parents had been murdered and she was left alone – an orphan – forced to endure horrific suffering in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. After liberation, Rena was adopted by a Jewish couple in the United States, and she went on to become a devoted mother and educator. For over thirty years, Rena has dedicated herself to telling her remarkable life story of survival and resilience, including details of the fascinating search for her identity.
