The eighth lecture on women of the Gilded Age in Southampton will be focused on Jessie Woolworth Donahue. In the sad saga of her life lies dramatic proof that money does not always buy happiness. Happy and spoiled as a child, her life spirals downward afterward. Spending on a massive scale does not buy Society’s respect and nor does it ease the pain of a bad marriage and a wayward son.
