New Construction Home Inspections (1 hour class)

Published 2021-01-06
If you're a Minnesota real estate agent and you want to watch the whole class and get credit for it, head on over to our learning platform at www.StructureTechCE.com/. You’ll find this class and four others, ranging from 1 to 3.75 hours in length. I believe these are some of the best continuing education classes available to licensed Minnesota real estate agents, bar none. To help cover the costs of our hosting platform and learning technology, we’re charging a small fee of $5 per hour of CE.

Thank you for going through all of these! I have an inspection scheduled in a few hours but I will be doing my own in depth inspection and bringing them to the actual inspectors attention

Excelent observations, are very helpful, thank you.

"Passed inspections - don't know how" - bribes is how. Happened with the new construction of my home. Couple years later the code inspector was arrested for taking bribes.

Even as an experienced inspector Reuben I would like to see more of these types of videos.

What I am wanting to know is how the plumber start and how he takes measurements to dig the trenches and and run all the pipes to the designed locations in a land where nothing is yet built. How everything (bath, kitchen, laundry, etc) matches to the precise location after the house is built?

Love the (painted?) insect nest at 24:24. I get that your point is slope, but I do not see any purple primer on the PVC. Did they actually glue the joints? 46:03

@54:30 “Definitely don’t stick your hand in there you’re not getting it back” 😂

Hi Reuben I hear you’ll be teaching a new construction class for our Illinois ASHI chapter in August. I can’t wait to see you again !!!

Very helpful. What about three story town homes? A drone is not going to cut it and my understanding is no inspector want go to up there. I guess a heavy rainstorm would be the judge of that.
  • Question, are all of these auxiliary certified by "company abc xyz" necessary? I did some market research and it seem that is all that's pushed in our industry. I do understand that legally it looks better on your defense cases if that ever comes up. My thoughts are as long as I'm getting my state requirements on CE do I need to pay someone to certify me on things I know already. Is it a psychological trick on customers, the guy with more merit badges get the job? (Over 18 years in the construction trades, 2 years state licensed, and constantly self educating)

How do I find a knowledgeable inspector like you? My daughter's and are thinking buying a new homes in Texas, and we want to hire a person to inspect out two homes.
  • @jvolstad
Is the Realtor doing the inspection?
  • I'm a home owner, not a real estate agent, who will be downsizing in 1 to 3 years. Do you have a package for non-professionals not seeking credits? I wish to feel more confident during the process of visiting and eliminating all but the one house I'll have inspected. It's not in the budget to pay for a dozen (or more) inspections of possible home contenders! The idea of educating myself occurred to me while watching "Mike Holmes:Buy It Right." On the TV series, Holmes, along with the house hunter, inspects several (3?4?) houses which are of interest. It's surprising how some houses which appear to be a wreck, aren't too costly to repair or upgrade. And visa versa. So, although I've always paid to have my final house selection inspected, it occurs to me I may have overlooked better choices during the elimination process. I'm sure the last thing you want to hear is about a half-hour TV series! However, I'm aware these shows are mainly entertainment - and a bathroom gut and remodel takes more than an hour! But at least this particular show highlights the value of house inspections so it's not all bad. Right? Thanks
