North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper has signed a state of emergency ahead of a second winter storm expected to move through the state this week.

According to a news release from the governor's office, snow, sleet, freezing rain and ice are expected to cause significant impacts in the central and eastern parts of the state. An Ice Storm Warning is in effect for areas along the Carolina coast, including Wilmington and Jacksonville. The Outer Banks could see white-out, nor'easter-like conditions during this weekend's winter storm.

While last weekend’s storm brought the most significant impacts to western and central counties, this new storm is expected to bring several inches of snowfall from the Triangle northeast toward the coast, and up to a half-inch of ice accumulation to southeastern counties. Widespread power outages begin when about a quarter-inch of ice accumulates on power lines.

The Charlotte region could expect rain on Thursday while a chance for snow is expected late this week. #WakeUpCLT #NCwx #Snow
