Great Video !! As a new Home Inspector going through the AHIT Course, this was extremely valuable. Thank You, and looking forward to watching your other videos.

Excellent video!! Please do each house system and major component. This is GREAT material to go with the course work. VERY informative and really puts things into perspective instead of just reading and seeing some images.

So in other words you bought a box of Crackerjacks and there was an inspection license as the prize inside! Yay

This guy needs to measure the furnace intake temperature as well, and compare it with the temperature at the register for the temperature difference. this guy really like the picture-taking job.

When it comes to hvac even though you can get home inspector training for it. I would still recommend getting an epa certified hvac tech To inspect the system. One thing about these carrier furnaces that they are notorious for is cracked heat exchangers and you can pretty much put your finger in through the firewall limit and feel the dimple where it pops at. Depending on the age of the furnace you definitely want to do your due diligence and check for cracked heat exchangers and also test for carbon monoxide coming out of the flue because there could be a blockage the homeowner doesn’t even know about that can cause major issues. Also checking refrigerant levels is important, homeowners can charge a system just enough to where it cools for a couple days when home inspectors are coming to inspect and unless you are certified to handle the refrigerants and know if you are checking for Subcool or superheat then you would have no idea the charge is low, typically leaks bad enough just lead to replacement of coil/condenser.

oh, man, i wish you would do videos on some of the houses i've lived in! my favourite furnace was the retro-fit monstrosity built into the original coal burning stove providing gravity heat.
  • Do you make a notation that the PVC flue pipes were not visible in the attic so you could not ensure that they were insulated? In Oklahoma the PVC flue pipes must be insulated in a non-condition space
  • @Bill67J
Would you report on the return register (8:10) being partially blocked by furniture?
  • @Gunny_101st
Is there a video of the entire inspection (all sections of sop)?
  • @jjsteel43
Which one on this inside is the flue, the one you have your hand on or the other one?
  • If you don't use PVC for the condensing furnace what do you use? Hmmmm?

Why not make sure that you are truly saved by Jesus Christ and practice this way. Remorsefully confess with your heart your sins to Jesus Christ who is God and tell Him that you right now are repenting of your sins and you want to be born again of the Spirit from above. Tell Jesus that you are remorsefully sorry for breaking His commandments and that you are begging for forgiveness from Him. Allow His blood from the cross to wash away your sins. After this is done with your heart successfully the Holy Spirit will come to live within you and He will rebuild you from the inside out.

Look for signs that you are saved. Things like spreading the good news from Jesus, getting other people saved, a craving for the word of God, reading the Bible, etc… These things are known as a calling and fruit bearing. If you're not bearing fruit then keep doing it. Sometimes it takes time to get saved. Read Matthew chapter 13 from the King James Bible. God bless!!!
  • Always hire an HVAC professional...not some clown like this guy. Home inspectors are generally useless and certainly not qualified to inspect critical systems like your HVAC.

So according to the SOP this inspector is doing things that are not required. turn the heat on at the registar if the furnace turns on and blows warm air. it works. That is the SOP. taking the cover off and igniting the burners etc is not SOP. and therefore he is exceeding the SOP and not following the SOP
