Whether it's a pen that magically gets rid of writer's block, a worn teddy that brought a lifetime of comfort, a grandmother's ring, or the dice that help conquer demons in a role-playing game, everything has a story and secret meaning.

This short doc is a fun, heartfelt piece that mixes interviews and animation to bring personal stories of people's most important keepsakes and how they bring a sense of optimism to their lives.

Back in the summer of 96. I was at the beach at English Bay with 2 friends. They both were of First Nations and both about 10 years older than I was. I asked what they were doing at a point and the closest one said looking for our companion rock then he explained what is is and how to find one as well as he suggested I try and find mine. The how find one was kinda interesting - keep looking for a rock that I could identify with and was attracted to. I kept trying for over half an hour when I picked up one that looked interesting.I instantly had an attraction for this one and showed him, actually both of them. He asked me a few questions and said to keep it on or near me always. To this day I still have it somehow. Not really sure if it had done anything for me, but I do know a couple of things. 1. There is such a thing as Karma. 2. I am still attracted to it. It is a flat black colour about the size of a dime, oblong somewhat with top heavy kinda diamond shape and flat on one side. It is about 12 mm at it's thickest of which the other side is kinda humped up like offset diamond turtle shell. It has been a while I guess so in general that tells me something.

When I was undergoing chemo I always brought an array of lucky little tchotckes to arrange on bedside tray. Best were a wee elephant an employer brought back from India, and an inexpensive coaster picturing a German Shepherd Dog that another one of my employers let me borrow (I grew up with a GSD, & dogsat my employers'). Cancer free for over 4 years now, which wasn't the expected outcome. I think my Liebchen is still looking out for me :-)

We named 1 of the best cats I've ever had the fortune to rescue & live with Itty Bitty, Bit Bit for short. She passed in 2015 & I am now crying. So glad you have your own Itty Bitty :-) xo

Who is this for? Children? Why would anyone care about strangers sentimental trash after 30 seconds of explanation? I really do one envy those who can get excited about this.
