Larry Elder is one of the top candidates in the California recall election. Host of the nationally syndicated “The Larry Elder Show” on talk radio, a newspaper columnist and author, Elder is a South Central Los Angeles native.

He sat down with CalMatters' reporters to discuss where he stands on the issues, why he should be the next governor of California, and how he differs from Gov. Gavin Newsom. This interview was filmed on Aug.18, 2021, before allegations surfaced from his ex-fiancee that he brandished a gun at her. He denied the allegations.
