Father of the freaking year. Can’t get my dad to send me birthday card. He sacrificed himself to save his daughter and it worked. I’m so glad they both made it. I hope he is able to let go of that guilt.

All of these attacks occurred due to not being prepared, but my heart really hurt for the young boy trying so desperately to save his mom.

It seems like Bears are attacking people often , My heart breaks for that young man Kelly . I been bit by a dog and he took my thumb skin and tissue it was crazy it burned, Ray Kitchen that's a hero a real man who tried to save a young boy and his mother God Bless him.

One thing I don't understand. These hunters don't shoot because they're scared of hitting the person being mauled to, um, death. I would much rather be shot to death than to be mauled to death.

Definitely devastating tragedy. The boy was so brave trying to save his mom. The man who lost his life trying to save them. God bless them all, RIP to all the victims. The first responder was extremely brave as well as all who had tried to help. To all the survivors, God bless you all 🙏🙏🙏

When he said “her voice was very strong, very healthy” gave me goosebumps, repeating that to myself again, brought even more. Such strong humans, I’ve had a few bear encounters, one close encounter but luckily the bear spray worked. Couldn’t imagine what they were going through in heads, amazing that they survived.

Johan Otter & his daughter’s story is one of the bear attacks I’ll never forget. I happened to be near Glacier and everyone was talking about it. I couldn’t believe he survived. The duration and ferocity and aftermath was just brutal. I’m so glad he lived to tell. He’s such a sweet and brave man. What a dad! He shouldn’t feel guilty. Also, I was amazed by the great work of their surgeons. They’ve fixed them up really well. Just an insanely frightening story!
