It's important to mix it well. Each time you put in insulation, mix thoroughly. Even when it seems mixed together keep mixing. We want to break down that insulation as much as we can.
If too sticky, add a little water and/or insulation. Little bits at a time until you have the consistency you like. If you've added, what you think is enough, and it's still too sticky, let it rest for a while. After about 1/2 hr or so, check it again. Wet your hands then knead the clay, work it for a bit. It might remain a little sticky but that's not a problem. When you use it, you can wet your hands/or utensil so it won't stick to you while you apply it.
Next batch, use a little bit less flour or add in a bit more water. Adjust as needed.
If too dry, add a little water and knead it well. I sometimes add extra compound or glue if I feel it needs it.
Keep refrigerated in covered container for up to 2 weeks.. it may last a little longer but I would use it up within 2 weeks.
