In this installment of oral histories for NCPTT's Documentation of Slave Cabin and Tenant Farming Houses Project, we visited Malone's Church where Nathaniel Keene sat amongst the venerable pews and told of the history and significance the establishment holds. He goes on to talk about the people of the community - one being his great great grandfather who was a slave but would later join the military to gain his freedom. Therefore, he granted his descendants henceforth their freedom as well.

This is part 2 of a 2 part series. The following video "The History of Malone's Church: Harriet Tubman, Gospel, & Gatherings with Renná McKinney" can be found on our page or in the playlist corresponding "Slave Cabin and Tenant Farmer Documentation Project" playlist!
