Two of the most brilliant minds in the 20th Century and they fail to think, "If we spin it on a table, we won't need to bend over so much."
-
When we already had Quantum Physics and the General Theory of Relativity, physicists were still trying to figure out how these spinning tippe top toys worked.
-
i like to watch these and pretend im smart...

I've been studying physics for 8 years and that spinning wheel demo still weirds me right out. I can prove it mathematically, but I simply can't intuit it. Regardless, great video and thanks for being the best singing Newton one could ask for!!
-
right hand rule is great for exams, and engineers. but it make no sense for everyone else trying to understand why in the first place.
-
Not gonna lie, wish I had you as my physics tutor.

It may not work with a raw egg, but there's another trick you can do with one of those. Spin it, then gently but quickly stop it by pressing down on it with your palm. If you release it soon, it will begin spinning again on its own. This is because the fluid interior never had time to stop rotating, but it can look very strange to someone not expecting it.
-
Two for one! Learn about gyroscopic precession, and find a "hack" to figure out whether an egg is raw without opening it.
-
That's not a child's toy.

+Physics Girl ..... HAHA I ran into this video and realized I was a SUBSCRIBER already, then I remember you were my 2nd SUBSCRIPTION after starting my channel.... nice to see you again and awesome work !
-
I always loved how you can tell cooked eggs from raw simply by spinning them on a table. Raw ones wobble while cooked ones will spin.

4:11 dafuq is that guy doing there

I just stumbled upon your videos (this being the first one) and I really like the way you simplify a concept without losing the point. You've earned a subscriber!
-
I love serious takes on simple mechanisms. This was great, as always :D
-
One of the best Videos you've ever made! Awesome, love your way of explaining stuff, keeping going and have a nice one :)

When I took a photochemistry elective, the professor ended a lecture one day with a top that would spin in one direction only. Try to spin it in the other direction, and it would wobble then reverse. He used it as a prompt for an open ended extra credit quetion: How does it work, and how is it relevant to photochemistry? Totally one of the best classes I took in school. The top he has, I found out later, is called a Rattleback and was based on a stone axhead found in a Celtic digsite in Scotland.

Yay Dianna strikes again! I wish you were my Physics teacher!

Thank you so much for such a concise and easy to understand video. I finally understood how angular momentum works. :)
-
I'm so decorating my eggs like that for Easter next year

1. Smart Girls are really cool! 2. That photo of Bohr and Pauli is priceless! Thanks!
