The statement "They will dispose of you if you get in their way" sent chills down my spine. face-blue-wide-eyes

I feel like I was well on my way to becoming a sociopath in high school. Exactly like she says in the video, I was hanging around with the wrong kids because I was being bullied by the other kids. I was becoming more and more careless, emotionless and wreckless. I truly never saw myself becoming a normal member of society. I saw myself becoming a criminal. And I was completely okay with it because my numbness and carelessness shaped me into a pretty good thug. I also truly believed I wouldn't live to see 40 years old, and I was completely okay with that. I didn't give a shit. And I loved not giving a shit. I felt powerful, like the world was mine.

Then I met my girlfriend at the last year of high school and over the course of two years, she changed my life. I cared for her a lot. And she cared for me. And this shaped the way for me to care more about myself and others as well. We've been together for 11 years now and my life has changed completely. Got a stable job which I love, a house and I spend every day with the love of my life. I'm truly alive now.

However, I still feel like I'm always just an inch away from my old life. It still haunts me. And I hope it will never come to that again.

The statement, "A psychopath is born, a sociopath is made", clears up a lot of confusion for me.
  • "Guilt and shame, shame is a public emotion."

Damn, never thought of it that way but does make sense!

I didn't need his reactions. Or interruptions. Loved her though

My mother and her father are raging narcissists with a complete lack of empathy for anyone but themselves. It's hard to grow up along these people because they will make you feel like everything bad that is happening is somehow your fault even if you are not involved at all. The manipulation I went through is really hard to overcome but I'm getting better at recognizing what is actually my fault and things that just happen to happen to me.
  • Now I understand why my ex husband was diagnosed psychopath and narcissistic. I still struggle to grasp every little abuse that I went through because of his mental disorders but I did a lot of progress these past two months

I listened to this woman for just 30 seconds and I've already decided she explains things better than most professionals. Thank you, Dr. Ramani!!!
  • So many people think empathy means to recognize others emotions. But it's to feel what they feel. Huge freaking difference.
  • Dr. Ramani is on the world stage as THE expert in Narcissism. She has been making waves in this Mental health arena for years. I am so happy she's getting world renowned recognition for her life's work. Read her new book, "It's Not You" -- so so good and insightful. A must read! (And I'm not someone who leaves book reviews because I'm lazy lol) This book is that good! Thank you so much MedCircle and Dr. Ramani for helping millions!
  • Thank you for clarifying that. I was victim of a sociopath. But managed to stay alive. God helped me. Dangerous people with zero remorse
