This movie is perfect , It doesn't only focus on Mirabel it focuses on the whole family. The best part is that there is no villain or a love interest for Mirabel. It goes into emotional topics , Amazing songs , Voice acting on point , but most of all the animation is beautiful.

I really appreciated how there was no twist villain, with the closest thing to an antagonist being Abeula. But even then, she's revealed to have understandable motives behind her actions.
  • Personally? I think Encanto deserves a series or sequel. There’s a lot of interesting dilemmas that they could’ve explored with the rest of the Madrigals. Expand on Luisa’s pressure and Isabela’s perfection. What if Camilo had an identity crisis? What if Pepa admitted she was feeling crazy stressed from having to constantly maintain her emotions? Dolores feeling like no one ever listens to her when she has to listen to everyone else? The movie, for what it was, was great. Touched on themes that were super relatable and its songs grew on me. But I think we need a little more.

"Why is Encanto Disney's Best Movie in Years?" Two things. 1) Lin-Manuel Miranda is fucking awesome at what he does. 2) It's not another shitty live-action remake of a successful animated movie.
  • Has anybody realized that Pepa's side of the family wears warm tones and Julieta's side of the family cool tones and Abuela Alma and Bruno wear warm and cool tones mixed
  • I’m autistic and as I was leaving the theater I couldn’t believe how perfect an analogy it was for a neurodiverse person growing up in a neurotypical family! I think it was how everyone in her family felt compelled to tell Mirabel how ‘special’ she was, yet they never took her contributions to the family seriously. Even though she was working super hard to help get the casita ready for Antonio’s party everyone was telling her to stay out of the way and let the more ‘capable’ members of the family handle things. Best of all her superpower ends up being her empathy. I love this because contrary to outdated stereotypes many autistic people have a type of extreme empathy. We often experience the suffering of others so strongly that just being around heightened emotional situations (or even watching it on TV) can be unbearably painful. This extreme empathy is by far the most difficult part of being on the spectrum for me personally. So seeing it portrayed as a literal superpower was a big deal. (Ok. I cried.)

One little detail that I liked was that Isabella, the one who is considered the most beautiful, has the darkest skin tone amongst the females. The pretty ones in fairy tales are usually blond and white and Isabella is fresh change.

I get so emotionally stirred up during the part of "All of You" where Mirabel takes her walk to Casita's door as the family sings. Oh my gosh. The way I love this movie is straight up ridiculous.
  • As a Brooklyn born Latino, who is bilingual in English/Spanish - I actually love that both theaters and streaming services NOW make these Latino theme animation movies available to watch in both English/Spanish for our children, grandchildren and the whole Family. As Latinos, we are aware that each group is extremely PROUD of their own unique history, food, accent & customs - but when it comes to Family values & heritage we are all quite similar. We didn’t have Latino theme animation movies, when I was growing up - so 1) I love that we can experience the movie as a family 2) we can educate non-Latinos about the various PROUD cultures that makeup the diverse Latino Community in & outside of the USA 👏

As a Colombian I feel very real this film, and I find more things of reality than fantasy, because its background is based on the reality of many Colombian families who have had to flee their villages, and who have separated and years later reunite, and they find that love and appreciation that despite being separated they always longed for.
  • My favorite things about Encanto: 1. There is a more diverse range of bodies; especially for the female characters. Luisa and Mirabel aren't the typical skinny Disney princess figure which I really appreciate. 2. There isn't a typical villain; though Abuela is the main protagonist, the solution to the conflict comes when we come to understand her and why she acted the way she did. We have sympathy for her and can relate to her, which is a powerful message. 3. All the characters are flawed, which is not very common for Disney movies of the past, but really, really adds to the quality and realism of the story. Honestly this movie beats Frozen for me which is a big deal! <3

I’ve read the article on how Mirabel’s struggles relates to people on the autism spectrum & speaking as an ASD person, I’ve never noticed that until I read the article & started putting two & two together😄💙
  • My sons and I love this movie so much! My oldest is 8 and is autistic. He will not stop playing this movie. I just love seeing how much joy it brings him. It melts my heart. We sing “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” all together as a family every single time and still haven’t grown tired of it. Such a beautifully layered story with great characters, gorgeous animation and fun bops! A favorite hands down. ❤️✨

I love how a gift can easily feel like a curse: Bruno: Can become paranoid about things he can see but not control Pepa: Must always suppress her emotions Antonio: When the animals have to eat each other and run away to survive, they end up dragging Antonio into their conflict. Antonio has to choose between predator and prey. Whoever he chooses, someone will hold a grudge.

Lion king is my favorite ever, im an old school and not a fan of modern disney movies , but this movie with amazing animation, beautiful music, great and relatable characters, dance scenes, family values, humor… is my favorite disney movie in years. Not to mention it made me wanna learn spanish and visit Colombia ❤️
  • For me Encanto is a story about family problems without any villain. It's related to real life, the pressure as older sibling, being hope for family, and a lot hardships among family members. Encanto apparantly conclude almost all issues without any complicated storyline. + Colombian cultures make it more colourful and I like it 💖 They deserve as Movie of the Year 💖💖💖
  • @Sancyria
I love this movie. In this dark time of winter and pandemic, this movie brings colors, catchy songs, lovable characters, fun and joy
  • @TeamRemForever
Besides the catchy songs, I love that there was no villain. Plus, the main character is fantastic
