  • CX-5 was the ONLY model that got the best rating for the new, stricter american side impact test out of all models tested last year (idk if they testedd more this year), beating even Volvo.
  • So you grew up and want well designed and built , ultra reliable vehicle but Toyota or Honda are a bit boring and you love driving experience, well Mazda is what you are looking for
  • @big2ej
I dont think i trust anyone else with car reviews as much as i trust Thomas.

I owned a 2015 model CX-5 for 3 years and I really loved the refinement, interior build quality and look of the car. One downside was the engine which was not really punchy and another issue was the body colour application was too thin. However overall a nice and reliable car.

Mazda has learned it's lessons well over it's competitors. The brand has moved into the sporty premium space that was once held by honda with revvy naturally aspirated engines. It also has options into the awd/turbo sector which was once held by subaru. Sadly those 2 brands have lost their way. On a lighter note, those 2 gave you the evil side eye when you indicated into their lane at 12.23 😅 Love the videos, Thomas.

Here in the US 🇺🇸, the CX-5 is Mazdas biggest seller. Sells more than all other Mazda models combined. Looking forward to the new CX-50 😀 Excellent job, Thomas! Cheers from Virginia 🇺🇸

I actually prefer the light signature from the pre-facelift model. Looks very chique, this a bit less. Still a great car that looks good inside too. The sport-trim should have has black around the windows as well instead of chrome.

    Great review as always 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
  • @byrosmind
very soft and calm and detailed, and surely one of the best review ever heard: something to enjoy, really nicely done!

Great review (and host of course) and comparison 👍👍🙏 The CX-5 is made (fully assembled) in my country for sale in this region, and they are among the best sellers in this region (in their C-seg), with top ratings from professional reviewers. And this has been the case for years. Won't get into the details of why they are so good and great VFM, as it would be covered here and by others. Just wanted to state that, before pointing out that Mazda has newer and upcoming models that you might want to wait for, even if they are a little smaller or bigger. Their new line of more premium RWDs are suppose to be previewed by this year end, but they will be more expensive. However for those with families who own a few cars of different levels of luxury and pricing, they might want to wait and see. The all new CX-30 is there too, and in some markets the CX-50 with more off-road capability and tougher looks will be coming. The diesel on the CX-30 is really clean and efficient too. The CX-8 diesel (or more premium 9 - petrol only) is a good choice too, if you have small kids and regularly use the 3rd row. And of course the MX-30 👍👍 that I think is great for a city use second car in my country.

I think the new facelift model looks better. More aggressive front end than before and sharper looking.
  • @vipermoon_
Zircon sand color with those smaller wheels, the light green/yellow accents, and the matte black/silver body surround looks best to me.
  • @amsb5974
Would be nice with some ambient lighting for the interior, but still a beautiful car!

Thanks Thomas (or is it Tomas?) for the great review! I have a 2022 CX-5 Sport Design w/Turbo and the CX-5 Signature trims (two highest trims levels respectively in Canada) both on order in the Soul Crystal Red. The dealership let me order both and I get to choose which one I want when they get here, sometime in June. It was hard to tell by Mazda Canada's website to get a true appeciation of the Sport Design colour scheme. That is the one with the gloss black outside trim on the wheel arches, front and rear bumpers and the side mirrors. Thank you EVER so much for putting the Sport Design and the Signature trim side by side so that I can get a MUCH better idea what they look like before they get here!!!
  • I love that sand color. Seriously I was planning on getting around a 2019-2020 CX-5 with 50k kilometers on it. Now I am thinking about driving my current car for another year or so and getting a 2022 just for that sand color and the newer version XD.
