Thanks again as always, very clear and straightforward. I'd been wondering some how the liquid bypasses the txv in step 12, but mainly just, what is the metering device at step 15. Thinking about how it all works it seems amazing to me that mini-splits in heat mode can be such efficient condensers for subcooling when they are so small

Thank you for the detailed explanation! One question though - how is the metering device in 15th point different from the one in 12th? Is it simplified on the schematic or it doesn't have a bulb and equalization lines in reality too?

Sir. Where the the temperature clamps need to be located for the súper heat and sub cooling, when we are charging on heat mode on a heat pump system..?

My unit was low on refrigerant by 2 lbs over a 4 year period. It was recharged, but I'm beginning to wonder the impact on the heat pump. Should I invest on a new unit? The last unit was installed in 2008. I hear new systems like Trane can heat without auxiliary heat when the outside temp is still 15 degrees.

Is that charging method for heat pump is same as ac?

Could you explain how the refrigerant is not raising in temperature, yet still adsorbing heat energy from the surrounding air at 3:28. I cant wrap my head around that part. Edit: A bit of research says that heat energy can be added to it but its used to break the bonds (latent heat fusion) and not to raise the temperature, right until the point of phase change (from liquid to gas). I was told i need a bi flow liquid line solenoid due to a 70 ft line set. Its a 16 seer 2 stage heat pump by Ruud. it dose not have a accumulator. its on a residential house. what would you recommend ?
