The Hellenic culture and history never ceases to amaze.
  • Petition for the Olympic Games to be held solely in Greece, for historical reasons and because countries spending billions on temporary infrastructure is a huge waste of money
  • @TGeoMin
Magna Graecia Greek colonies(Napoli, Sicily etc) competed in the Ancient Olympic Games. The most notable of Magna Graecian champions is Milo of Croton(Crotone).

Seeing a Scutum at the exact same time you say "Hoplon Shield" at #14:32 was so jarring I now have whiplash.

Fun fact: Byzantine Emperor Basil I was higly trained at wrestling and after winning against a big Bulgarian foe, following Hellenistic traditions he earned the title and nickname "Sator-Saviour" and "Tydeas - From the 7 against Thebes"
  • In the city of Olympia, outside the famous Olympic Games where only men competed (outside chariot sponsorship), also took place every 4 years the Heraean Games (Ηραία) solely for female participants, a festival dedicated to the goddess Hera, Zeus's wife.

Leonidas of Rhodes the most successful yet forgotten due to his namesake

I've just came back from Peloponnese, unfortunately I didn't see Olympia, but I've been to a site of a Pythian Games, Delphi about which I've made a video 😊. Thanks for a great video!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

The more I learn about the Greeks, the more respect and admiration for them. These people are a real blessing to our modern world. 🙌

"Alas Mardonius! Against what kind of men you brought us to fight. Against men who do not compete for money, but for glory." From Herodotus history when the Persians realized that the greek resistance was weak at the start because all the greeks where at the Olympic games.

There's something to be said about the "OGs" of ancient Greece. Inspirational and we even have their names! That's awesome.

Tokyo Olympic could be cancelled. K&G: "Yes, this is a great time to upload the history of Olympic games"
  • As a MMA nerd i need to point out that one of the precursors to the UFC was a japanese organization called Pancrase which gets its name from the Olympic name.

This video doesn't have nearly enough naked men. We will remake it in the future, don't worry.

It's hard to fathom that Kings and General wasn't even around for the last Summer Game's, I feel like I've been watching it forever.

I seem to recall two Spartan women called kyniska and euryleonis who were able to participate in the olympics as chariot racers. In total they won it four times
  • @abcdef27669
"So, you three want to compete in the chariot race? Who is the sponsor of each one?" "Raid: Shadow Legends". "Magellan TV". "NordVPN". "You can enter. But merchandising during the race is absolutely forbidden!"
