  • Even though Valentine's Day is commercialized I love how it works and helps other countries like Colombia to be economically stable.

Thank you Columbia for sharing your country's beauty with the world 💛🇺🇸

Think of that. Flowers grow everywhere yet we have to fly millions of them wasting limited resources so that your loved one can throw them out next week. We humans are so wasteful 😰

For those wondering how amazing it smells to work with flowers, I worked in a flower shop for several months, and I could only smell the flowers when I first got into work, but after a couple minutes I got used to the smell and couldn't really smell it anymore unless I got super up close to the flower. You also have to remember that working with flowers means that you are working with a lot of green waste, such as stems that are being cut off of flowers or extra leaves that are being stripped, and that stuff STINKS. It decomposes really fast, and dealing with those trash cans at work are a nightmare.

Please look for local flowers or other alternatives. They might cost a bit more but they cost less in resources to ship flowers from another country to your state.
  • I'm a former florist, working at the green house during valentines and mother's Day was intense. We did a week of over time and the last two days before Valentine's and mother's Day we would rock 16 hr days. Even going to auction was cut throat, people would get super heated and hundreds of thousands of dollars would be spent per hour.

Everyday we learn something new. It makes you appreciate more the chain of people involved behind these flowers 💐
