In this JCS Inspired true crime case, we’re going to look at a case involving a man who drew a weapon in what he believed was self-defense and ended up killing someone.

On October 6, 2012, Cayde Lish met coworkers at a bar for a few drinks. As he was leaving, Jeremiah Paiz began to harass him, as he had done once previously at a different location, although the two did not otherwise know each other. Piaz threatened Lish, and said he and his friends were going to ‘get’ him. He then began hitting Lish, who drew a knife in fear of his life.

As always, we'll also find a bit about the psychology behind the interrogation and what is most likely happening in the mind of the Lish.

This is the interrogation of Cayde Lish.

He was in danger. He warned his attacker(s). He defended himself. The FIRST thing he genuinely wanted to know was if his attacker is okay. This is not a murderer.
  • This is ridiculous I feel so sorry for this kid. It's so fucked up that this kid gets 22 years for defending himself in a fight that someone else started. Meanwhile, Josh Duggar only got 12 for playing a part in ruining countless children's lives. This is proof of our justice system not working properly.

Jeezzzz what jury found him guilty?! This is a prime example of self defense. Sad situation. Don’t.talk.to.anyone.without.an.attorney. This detective was just looking for a arrest.
  • Thank you for the constant reminder that the police are NOT IN OUR SIDE during an interrogation. Keep fighting the good fight! 😍
  • @MrFruitgum
NEVER talk to the police with out a lawyer - PLEASE remember this.
  • If someone attacks someone unprovoked, and continues to beat them while they're face down on the ground...the victim should absolutely be able to use lethal force. You don't know if the attacker is going to stop before you're dead, are permanently injured, etc.
  • He sounded like a little boy when he was crying. Broke my heart. Wrong place wrong time. NOT a bad guy.
  • That was very sad. He's serving more time than alot of terrible murderers
  • @today1more2
I feel so bad for him. I wish he hadn't spoken to this detective without a lawyer.
  • @imabott7053
When is it a good idea to talk to the police without legal representation? A. Never B. Never C.Never D. All the above
  • @natalie306642
This was CLEARLY self defense. Had he not tried to get away from his attacker, HE would have wound up DEAD. The system Is BS. Somebody jumps me, I WILL get away by any means necessary!

If you are guilty, you need a lawyer. If you are innocent, you really need a lawyer.
  • @centaurqueen
This is the first interview where I feel bad for the person. To anyone reading this, even if you're 100% innocent, ALWAYS GET A LAWYER
  • @c.stinson
In years of following true crime, this is the first time I feel sorry for the killer.
  • That’s a damn shame what happened to this young man. When all he wanted to do was be left alone and go home. I wonder if this is a case that we could write in and try to get his sentence decreased?
  • The officer tells him the other guy died at 39:15. It’s heart wrenching. Seems like a good kid.
  • This is already becoming a perfect example of why you need a lawyer, and I’m not even finished the video
  • 22yrs for manslaughter, bet he would have got much less if he had an attorney during this.
  • @shelbysushi
Note to self: NEVER speak to law enforcement without a lawyer
