Some modification is always necessary.

Stuff I used in the video:
Evolution Mag Drill: amzn.to/3NRJPma
Annual Mag drill cutter set: amzn.to/3JVUfA6
Miller Multiprocess Welder: amzn.to/44sfu56
Crane Scale

Videos on items you saw in this video:
Paint Shaker:    • EASIEST Spray Paint Can Shaker Stirre...
DIY drill grease gun:    • DRILL powered Grease Gun DIY
Evolution Mag drill:    • Best way to drill holes in steel - Ev...

After Thoughts about the Video: I have used my cherry picker/engine hoist for 20 years to do things like this and it was just time to upgrade. I don't think I will ever use the extra pin hole for height but it was easy to do at the moment. I can't actually get to the hole I drilled without unbolting a few things. 102 inches is crucial to be able to straddle trailers, camping trailers, motorhomes, my boat etc.

Evidently the guy at Harbor Freight that said "it wouldn't fit", hasn't seen your videos. Yes, I want one.

When I had bought my HF gantry several years ago I had purchased two hoists to use with it. It makes it much easier to load and unload larger items.
  • I have one with 2 chain hoists in a 14' foot ceiling for 5 years. 2 hoists much nicer to lift than trying to balance loads. Once loads are level you can use one hand for both chains to go up or down synced up. Nice for loading pickup beds. Like your vids.

I used these for years in factories. You either used a gantry or a jib. Gantry goes a lot farther in a small shop. I lifted the whole front of my car to do brakes and suspensiond back in the early 80s. All you had to do was put something like an old boat cushion between the chain and the bumper in a friends tool and die shop.

I've been wanting to build a Gantry crane for a while now.

    Skinnier, handy little unit

You should add a couple extra pulleys and some more cable so one crank can lift both posts at the same time. So you don’t fatigue the welds on the top plates over time.

How bout a thin metal flashing roof on the thing to keep most of the rain out?

While Mary Ann often ranks over Ginger.... Ginger is rocking it. Great video thanks.

Fortunately for me, I inherited a home with a huge garage that I could put 3 class A motor homes in. It also already had a huge Crain lift in the garage too. They certainly do come in handy more often than one would think! I don’t have two Crain on it, but I do have a smaller wench hooks up to my ceiling in the garage for lifting lighter weight. It’s a 3 bay garage and these are in 2 of the bays. Works out pretty well for my needs so far! Especially considering I didn’t have to pay for anything who can complain? 😂

Pretty sweet! You can now fix up that '65 Ford that I see in your garage lol, I would love to see you do a series on putting it together like you did with the VW
