The Borealis is one of Planet Earth's greatest mysteries and a beacon of hope during the height of The Combine Invasion. Developed and constructed within the Aperture Science Facility in complete secret, this ship and its technology would give hope to the Resistance Members against The Combine in their time of need.

What can The Borealis do? Where did it end up after disappearing from deep within the Aperture Science Facility, and what do both The Combine and Resistance hope to find when they will one day, potentially discover it? Join me in exploring The Borealis in Half-Life.

Something I don’t see brought up a lot is that Cave Johnson specifically mentions that the teleportation doesn’t teleport skin very well. The crew of the Borealis may have spontaneously teleported into the arctic *without their skin*.
  • Maybe in Half-Life 3 the ship can be a key to defeating the combine with its own portal gun

Damn. I fell in love with the whole half life world again. It's the third time in the week!

I hate that valve had to make two amazing stories that interact with eachother but never do anything with it. I love Portal so much and grew up with it.
  • @JJ-jm1js
According to Epistle 3, the ship was intentionally teleported to the middle of the artic to avoid it falling into combine hands.

I love this lore and it's inside references to the Philadelphia Experiment. Great video!
  • Sometimes I think that it may have disappeared when Glados was activated, and the few surviving personnel in a panic, used the borealis as a last ditch attempt to flee from aperture science.

How long until Valve finally decides to continue the story though...

It would have been cooler if the Borealis ship actually teleported not only in space, but time as well, back in time to another planet. The planet the Combine comes from. When ship teleported there, some of the technology survived, and they used that technology to start colonizing the universe. Eventually they reach back to Earth after noticing effects of the events of the Black Mesa. So if Aperture Science and Black Mesa never competed, the ship would never have been built, and the Combine would never have invaded.

I really hope in episode 3 that Gordon and alyx find the borealis

This Amazing! You just got a new subscriber. 😁👍🏾
  • Are you making these cinematics we seen in backgroumd yourself? This is a really cool thing.
  • @edit11
BRO THIS OPENED MY MIND BIG TIME!
  • It's funny because black Mesa are the reason the combine invaded Earth

Okay, this may sound crazy but I hope they make Half-Life 3 and Portal 3 basically the same game. And it’ll be called.... “BOREALIS”. Half-Life with a Portal Gun? Yes, please! 50/50 Action/Puzzle ratio! Of course the events of HL: Alyx may have drastically altered the timeline however... So maybe instead of Gordon and Alyx finding the Borealis it’ll be Gordon and Eli. I’m sure you’re aware of the synopsis for what would’ve been HL 3 that Laidlaw released a few years ago... Anyway, great vids! Keep putting out as much HL stuff as you can. I’m a glutton for HL lore, and there aren’t too many channels focused on HL anymore, but it’s one of my favorite series of games ever and I’ve played everything (all expansions and episodes, including Decay) except for Alyx. Cheers!
