Mulching Tutorial - Plus 3 Reasons Why You Should Mulch Your Garden

Published 2020-06-13
Mulching 101: Here Is Your Comprehensive Guide To Mulching! Mulching is easy and basically involves simply covering the bare soil of your garden in and around your plants with an organic shredded mixture.

This mix can be anything from green grass clippings to shredded leaves to coarse straw mixes of those components and much more. As easy as the mulch is to obtain, its even easier to apply. Simply place liberally in and around all your favorite veggie plants in a layer around 2 inches thick. Nothing gets easier than that, and most entire gardens can be mulched in less than 20 minutes.

But why do we mulch? The reasons are many, but check out the video for my top 3 reasons to mulch your veggie garden every year to ensure you are growing the best crops possible.

Since I viewed this video 4 days ago I've been mulching my young Okra plants and what a difference it has made! The okras are now always upright and turgid - before i mulched they would be up in the morning then droop by the end of the day due to the pelting sun. Then I'd water in the morning and they'd be up again and the cycle continues. Now that they're mulched they don't droop anymore at all! I checked the soil under the mulch this morning and its still moist... no need to water them just yet. Thanks so much for your great videos. Very educational...full of information ...very eloquent and detailed.πŸ‡―πŸ‡²
